NEW COVID-19 Group Tracing
We’ll notify an entire class, team, etc. if they were exposed to a COVID-positive individual.
Potentially exposed students, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status or prior infection, should get tested for COVID-19 with at least one diagnostic test obtained within 3-5 days after last exposure. Please use this link to the ECHS short form to submit testing results.
Potentially exposed students who participate in testing may continue to take part in all aspects of K-12 schooling, including sports and extracurricular activities, unless they develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.
When students are exposed to a COVID-19 positive person in a school setting, OUSD will notify parents/guardians in writing of the exposure. All students may remain in school unless they are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive.
Remember to keep students who are experiencing symptoms or who test positive at home. If your student tested positive for COVID-19, the recommendation is to test on day 5 before returning to campus.
The San Diego County public health documents and decision trees, to which OUSD adheres, have been updated with this new information; OUSD will implement the changes effective immediately.
Remember, ECHS Truax theater lobby is one of the district COVID-19 testing sites. For additional testing locations or vaccination information, please visit our COVID-19 Plan site.
COVID-19 Testing Available here at ECHS
Ethnic Studies Community Input Meeting
On January 26th at 5:00pm, the Oceanside Unified school district will be hosting an Ethnic Studies Community Input Webinar Meeting. Recently, Governor Newsom signed into law Assembly Bill 101 which will require all students to complete an Ethnic Studies course. The mandate will take effect starting with the graduating class of 2029-30, although high schools must start to offer the course starting in the 2025-26 school year. We currently offer Ethnic Studies as an elective course. The purpose of this meeting is to get input from students, families and community members. This input will help us as we begin to make updates and revisions to our current Ethnic Studies curriculum to meet this new requirement. During this meeting you will be able to share brief written comments .The meeting will take place as a Zoom webinar. To access the webinar please use the link below:
