MUSTANG PARENT ALERT
T. L. Marsalis Elementary STEAM Academy - February 2022
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings Mustang Families!
It is hard to believe that January is over and what a wild start to the month of February! Our scholars participated in our district-sponsored Middle of the Year assessments during January including the CIRCLE readiness assessment for our PK students, Reading fluency and readiness assessments for K-2 students and our Grade 2-5 students also took the national MAP assessment in reading, math and science. While it was quite a bit of testing, all of this data will be critical as we plan for quality instruction and intensive intervention & enrichment for our students.
Communication is key! Parents, please make sure that you stay in touch with your child's teacher regarding any academic concerns and ways that you help your child stay on track! Our teachers have great resources that they can provide to help you support learning at home. Our campus goal is GROWTH at all levels and we are confident that with your partnership and support, it can happen!
While this first week of February ended abruptly, we do still plan to honor our scholars' achievements for the Fall semester this month. We will recognizing attendance, academic excellence and growth, citizenship and teacher-designated awards. Many of our scholars performed very well the first half of the school year and we are determined to celebrate all of them.
Educationally yours,
Kimberly M. Richardson
WHO'S RED CAPE READING WORTHY?
Our PK4 - 5th grade students are building their reading fluency and comprehension each and every day. As a campus, all students are participating in the adaptive reading program, I-Station. Each month, students' reading progress is assessed and a personalized set of lessons are designed for the students for that month. Our students will complete their February assessments this week. Contact your child's reading teacher to get their scores.
We want all of our students to be RED CAPE WORTHY at Levels 3 and up!
