Tumuaki Kōrero

Kia ora whānau,

Thank you so much for all of your support over the last year. Despite the events of 2021, we feel that we have had many new learnings, successes and personal growth opportunities across the year. We have also had many occasions to practice resilience, wellbeing strategies and connect in different ways.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and whānau for their continued support and enthusiasm for our school. I would also like to thank the Board of Trustees for their mahi and awesome efforts for TNIS.

We hope that you were able to view our Prize Giving celebration last week. The link is available below. We have been able to present all of the awards in person.
Congratulations to all of our Class and School Award winners.

2022 Classes Update
We have discussed with our teachers and the local schools' cluster and have decided to keep our classes together with their current teachers, where possible, for 2022. This is because of the long period of online learning this year and our focus on relationships and Wellbeing.

The existing connections learners have made will be transferred into next year, ensuring a settled start. This will also mean that the learning is more seamless as the teachers will already know their learner's strengths and goals. Next year, learners and teachers will be able to support new Year 7 learners in their class as they begin their journey with us.

Ngā mihi nui,

Wendy

Pupuke Taniwha - Petition

LET'S PROTECT OUR ROTO - LAKE PUPUKE

Pupuke Taniwha (Guardians of Lake Pupuke) are an environmental action group originating from Forrest Hill Primary School. Worried about the health of the lake, they have started a petition to protect it by having it legally included in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.

Petition Reason:

- Greater recognition of the significance of the lake and land, including the historic and cultural significance for mana whenua.

- Increased protection for the ecology and natural features, and sustaining of the lake's life-supporting capacity.

Guitar Lessons - Dave Gatman

Hi there! I have taught Guitar to kids in schools for over 15 years. I love working with kids and inspiring the next generation of musicians. I like to make my lessons as positive and fun as possible, teaching a range of songs from traditional folk/blues to the current pop and rock tunes.

I've played the guitar in a large variety of settings, and I'm currently in a covers band playing at weddings, bars and parties.

Lessons are in groups of up to 4 at a time, and cost $20.00 plus gst, for half an hour.

Individual lessons are offered if I feel like the student will benefit from them, and if I have space. These cost $35.00 plus GST per half hour.

Lessons are on Wednesday mornings at TNIS as well.

Feel free to contact me - dave.gatman@musiqhub.co.nz. Or text/call on 021 2221456.

Thanks,

Dave
