Family and Community Engagement (FACE)

  • FACE partners with students, families, and staff to support students' specialized academic, social, and emotional needs to promote self-determination, equitable opportunities, and authentic inclusion. Many opportunities are available throughout the year to continue to develop the relationship between school and home. A number of opportunities to continue this growth are provided through a number of workshop opportunities. Individuals must register for the workshops.

After registering, participants will be provided with information about the platform that will be used for the workshop.

If you are unable to attend the live workshop, please still register so that we can send you the link to the recording a day or two after the workshop.

The workshops will be set up as webinars, so you will be able to see the panelists but not other attendees. Your confirmation and reminder email will contain information about how to submit questions to the panelists in advance, or you can use the chat and Q&A features during the workshop. If you have any questions, please let us know.

If you need more information, or if you require an alternative format as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act, contact, 314.989.8460 or 711 (Deaf/HOH). All of the workshops offered by FACE are provided free of charge and are open to all parents, families and community members.

FACE Updates: FACE Family Workshops and Community Collaborations (Hub Huddles) are now posted on our site at

We also have a significant amount of school supplies that were donated and are looking for a permanent home. Anyone interested can contact Adrienne Eaglin at 314-989-8311 to schedule a pickup or shop at the Family Resource Hub at North Tech.

We have also linked a copy of our new FACE department flier for distribution to families and staff.

Parent Advisory Council

The SSD Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is comprised of families advising and collaborating to improve the education, confidence and social outcomes of each student served by SSD.

The PAC consists of five parents or guardians – one member and four alternates – from each of the 22 St. Louis County school districts and from each of the five SSD special education schools. The parents or guardians of students receiving special education services in that district or school elect SSD PAC members.
