Weekly Tech Update 9/13 to 9/17

First Week Is In The Books 📚

So how was your first week of school? Was it perfect? Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. Some things we can control, and some things are out of our control as educators. Thinking about those things that we CAN control in our classrooms, how could we improve those first impressions that we were able to experience this year with classrooms filled once again with students? Personally, for me, it’s planning and preparation. I am a procrastinator and it was hard for me to get back into the swing of things coming off of summer break. If I would have used my time more productively to plan and prepare for this past week, I would have had more free time at night this past week to see how my own kids' first week was at school. Planning and preparing IS something that I CAN control! Reflect on your week. What is something within your control that you could have improved?

Getting in Compliance

In an effort to get in compliance with New York State's Data Privacy and Security Policy (NYS Ed Law 2D), WCSD has to check and make sure that the sites, software apps, and tools that are utilized at school and with our students are compliant. If there are sites, software apps, and tools that you are using with your students, could you please take a second and fill out the form below to let us know what those sites, software apps, and tools are? Fill it out as a team, a department, or on your own.

Here is the link to the form: https://forms.gle/tmbzuGeP7dttjZ6S8 or you can access it by clicking on the form icon located to the right.

Here is a link to more information on Ed Law 2D (provided by MORIC and RIC ONE).

Google Forms and QR Codes 🤳

QR Codes and Google Forms are a match made in heaven. Use a QR Code to get people to your form by simply scanning a code with a camera. Remember that I am working on my planning and preparation from above?😁 If we are fortunate enough to have in-person back-to-school nights this year, then use a QR code linked to your Google Form to collect information that you may have had parents fill out on paper. Watch the tutorial below. 👇

Poor Man's Brick Oven Pizza 🍕

Grilled pizza is a fan favorite at our house. It isn't as good as a brick oven pizza, but it certainly gives you the taste of those wood fire pizzas. Check it out below.
