A Note from Miss Caitlyn
Dear Lincoln, Logan & McPherson County 4-H Families,
Fair season may be over, but exciting opportunities are still happening for 4-H youth. The Youth Leadership Conference and Nebraska Youth Leadership Beef Symposium are two great opportunities I encourage you to read and learn more about in this newsletter. Also, save the date for the Lincoln County 4-H Council garage sale fundraiser on October 14-15. Donations for the garage sale will be accepted soon. Now is the time to sort through any old items you are ready to part with.

Interested in a Rabbit?
We have a family looking to re-home a Harlequin Doe with beautiful coloring that is 6 months old. It is a bigger breed than they wanted. She comes with food and timothy hay and is house trained. She would make a great show rabbit for fair next year. If you are interested, email sshepherd3@unl.edu.
State Fair Exhibits and Premium Checks
We still have a few State Fair Exhibits here in the Office. Please pick these up ASAP! State Fair Premium checks were mailed out to the 4-Her's that do not have exhibits left at the office.
Interested in the Citizenship Washington Focus Trip – June 2023?
Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a civic education and leadership program organized by National 4-H Council and held at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland every summer for high school youth between the ages of 15 to 19 years of age. 4-H delegates from across the country broaden their appreciation and respect for themselves and others in the world through civic workshops, committees, field trips and social events.
Youth participants learn and practice skills intended to make them better citizens and successful individuals. Youth who have attended in the past have exhibited the following measurable outcomes:
· Strengthened communication, leadership, and citizenship skills.
· Increased understanding of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders; and
· Improved respect, networking, and camaraderie with other youth from diverse backgrounds.
This is an educational program that requires a lot of planning and I feel part of this is for the youth members to plan their finances well ahead of the trip. The program will cost $3,500 per participant. Interested youth who are currently enrolled in 4-H may be eligible for a small scholarship through the Lincoln Co. 4-H council.

Diamond Clover
The Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover Program is designed to encourage 4-H youth to engage in a variety of projects and activities that will enable members to acquire the life skills necessary to lead successful lives as competent, caring and contributing citizens. The program’s overall goal is to provide 4-H members a rich and diverse learning experience. Deadline to submit your plan and report form is October 7, 2022.
The program consists of six levels that require a 4-H member to plan and report a broad range of age-appropriate accomplishments. The program is designed to enable every 4-H member willing to exert the effort an opportunity to be recognized, regardless of how they are involved in 4-H.
