Ready for Kindergarten?
The registration portal for incoming Kindergarten students for the 2021-2022 school year. We encourage all families to complete the registration process as soon as possible so that the district may plan accordingly for the incoming class.
Please log onto the district website at: https://www.bwrsd.org/Page/2849
Complete the short informational survey and you will be directed to the registration form.
As soon as your registration is complete, you will be provided information about orientation and screening activities that are currently being planned.
Have you completed the survey yet?
Each year, we ask our families to complete this statewide survey about our school. We look closely at the data to guide our school improvement initiatives. We always welcome and encourage parent input, and this is a great way to let us know what we are doing well and highlight potential areas for improvement.
Access the survey at this link: bit.ly/ridefamily
District Name: Bristol Warren
School Name: Hugh Cole School (Bristol Warren)
The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. We appreciate your time and support!
RHODE ISLAND STATEWIDE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
At this time the RI Department of Education expects all students in Grades 3-5 to participate in the statewide assessment program.
Students are tested in the subjects of Mathematics, English Language Arts, and Science. All schools MUST participate in these assessments in order to meet federal requirements. Assessments given include:
Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS): English Language
Arts/Mathematics
Next Generations Science Assessment NGSA.
If you wish to learn more about RI statewide assessments, please click on the link below.
This spring having students participate in these tests is more important than ever. Testing in Math, ELA and Science will provide us with much needed information to support students who have participated in various models over that last year. It will share information about learning success as well as areas where schools may need to support students learning.
Assessment results provide valuable information about students' knowledge of and skills associated with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).Test results are used to inform decisions at our district and state levels.
The Rhode Island Department of Education requires that state testing happens in person to maintain security protocols. Distance learners will take their assessments in person on designated testing days. Students will be provided with a safe testing environment which include:
DL and in-person students being grouped in stable pods, wearing masks and safely distanced apart.
DL students remain on school campus while testing and then being picked up once the testing has concluded.
All accommodations required by IEPs or 504s will be supported

PTO Fundraiser - Cookie Dough!
Good Afternoon Families-
Our PTO spring fundraiser begins today and runs through March 23rd. The fundraiser is an important way that our PTO raises money that directly benefits our students and teachers. The fundraiser will look a little bit different again this spring. We are selling Otis Spunkmeyer frozen cookie dough. Parents will need to pick up their products from the school on the specified delivery date- to be announced. Pick up will be on a Saturday and will be drive-up and contactless- much like grocery pick up (or virtual materials pick up last spring). More information about pick up will follow in a later email.
In person students will receive a traditional packet with an order form. For virtual students, information about how to set up your online store can be found on the attached flyer. Once your store is set up, friends and family can shop the online catalog. Extra packets are available in the front office if virtual families would like to pick up a paper copy.
Please note, the online store does sell items that are not from the Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie catalog. You may certainly sell and order these items but they will ship directly to the student’s home. Only items from the Otis Spunkmeyer catalog will ship directly to the school and will need to be picked up. If you have any questions, please reach out to me directly at HughColePTO@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for your support!
