Dates to Know--
April 3-7 Benchmarks
April 5th SST Beginning at 2:00
April 12th SAM Assessment
I will need to meet with your grade level the week of the 10th for Data Discussions regarding Benchmarks and final goals for the year. I can meet with you during your scheduled PLC Time OR during your planning day. Decide as a grade level and someone let me know by Monday the 3rd which you prefer. If I do not hear from you--I will schedule you.
We will have Retention Meetings with Mrs. Lingle the week after Spring Break during PLC Meetings. We will also update Tier paperwork during this time if needed based on Benchmark data and goals for the end of the year.
Curriculum WOW's in the Building
- Continued "self regulation and monitoring" talks with students when learning. This is so important to help students reflect on their behaviors when they are learning. Are they actively listening? Are they doing their best work? Are they asking questions?
- Thank you to those that attended Silent Fluency PD. I saw a few of you explicitly teaching self monitoring or discussions of what they are doing as they read. These conversations must be taking place DAILY in our classes K-5! As a school and grade level (K-5) you will hear more about this!
- Geometry instruction in 1st grade and great modeling and discussion of the word attribute.
- 4th Grade modeling EOG thinking--how to prove and find evidence.
- 2nd grade math lesson--great engagement. Choral answers and partner discussions help to keep whole group engaged!
- 3rd Grade Pirates named and on board. Thanks to all of you for exciting children about learning AND training them to have stamina, belief in themselves and MOST of all pride in what they do. ENGAGEMENT is what makes true learning happen.
- Tired educators that keep instruction moving! We are almost to Spring Break!
Thanks for all you do! PLEASE encourage students to do their best on Benchmarks so we can get an accurate "temperature check" of how well they are doing and most of all where we need to go. This information will be crucial in deciding what skills need to be taught before EOY Reading 3D Testing and EOG.
As, Captain This would say---BATTLE STRONG!
Benchmarks and Planning
K-2 Benchmarks are in your boxes. Please plan to get me student summaries by April 10th.
3-5 classes will have Benchmarks according to the schedule below. I will be out on Monday and Tuesday so Mrs. Muscarelli will give out small group testing materials to assistants listed on the schedule for administration. PLEASE ask if you are unsure of something. There is a row of chairs in the Resource Room with Benchmarks on them. On the last chair--it is labeled Friday/Make ups. If you have a student who is absent. Put their test and answer sheet together with a paperclip and lay in on this chair. We will begin makeups on Friday.
Please see Planning Dates Below.
Weekly Blog
Silent Fluency is Revisited in this BLOG. I really believe in my heart this is a piece that is needed at TES. Silent Fluency Explicit Instruction can address stamina, comprehension monitoring, application of comprehension skills and application of decoding. PLEASE READ AND ASK ME FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Resources
If you are considering a student for retention. You may want to fill out a Light's Retention Scale and add it to their purple folder. This will be part of the data we use at the end of the year when discussing retention.
