Kingsley Connection

A weekly newsletter from the Kingsley Administrative Team

September 9th, 2022

Dear Kingsley Families,

We have completed 11 school days so far, but I'm sure for many it feels like 30! The kids have been doing a great job learning the expectations and routines and are starting to build the stamina of being back in school all day. We are proud of all of our students for the amazing work they are doing and will continue to do.

Enjoy your weekend,

Chuck Brewster & Eleni Gajewski

Car Line and Dismissal Reminders

With practice, our arrival and dismissal procedures continue to go smoothly. We thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Now that our Kindergarten - 2nd grade students have learned the arrival and dismissal routines, we ask that parents remain outside of the fenced area near the primary playground while dropping off and picking up, as has been done in the past. We appreciate your cooperation with this.

Please call the office any time there will be a change in how your child will get home. Teachers are busy teaching and often unable to check their emails. By calling the office, we can be sure the message gets to your child.

As a reminder, we need adults to stay in the vehicle during arrival and dismissal. This allows our process to move swiftly. Students should enter and exit their vehicles from the passenger side only. If your child needs more time to get buckled, guardians may move to the first spot of the car line. This allows other vehicles behind you to proceed through the car line.

During arrival and dismissal, please do not park in the staff lots, as we need to ensure access and smooth traffic flow for our special transportation buses.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

This summer, all DG58 Administration and some staff representatives participated in the Orange Frog workshop. Orange Frog is a parable based on the positive psychology of Shawn Achor. A summary of this parable is below.

You will see Kingsley staff wearing a lot of orange this year, especially on Mondays. Orange symbolizes that happiness is a choice, and how we can spread positivity. We invite your child(ren) to also wear orange on Mondays throughout the school year.

A frog name Spark emerges from a tadpole with a slight but noticeable orange spot. And this orange spot makes Spark feel uncomfortably different. What's more, Spark begins to make a disconcerting observation; when Spark does things that make him feel better (and produce more positive results) the orange spots increase.
