HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Congratulations Monica Meza!
This was a critical thinking lesson because students were doing research using authentic Spanish sites, interpreting the information provided and then selecting which restaurants and points of interests to include. They then had to justify why they were making the selections that they did.
Congratulations on a well-earned badge!
Ms. Anderson's Classes Go on a Goose Chase!
In Goose Chase, the teacher creates a game with missions. A mission can be a text mission or a photo or video mission. Students then complete missions by using the app, and teachers can view submissions my mission or by student/team.
Examples: Students at the CTE in Ms. Anderson's class were sent on a GooseChase to find examples of different types of advertising they had been learning about. In one mission, they had to submit a picture of a Direct Mail Ad. In another, they had to take a video of themselves explaining why they thing only 1% of people click on a pop up ad.
I also saw a history class at Wakeland doing a Goose Chase where teachers led students deliberately through the missions in a particular order. They posted QR codes around the school that students with information that students had to use to complete their missions, and clues at each location told students where to go next.
If you are interested in learning how Goose chase might fit in with your class, please let me know!
Thank you PTSA! More fun coming!

Digital Citizenship Spotlight- Stumbling Upon Inappropriate Content on the Internet
First, they should immediately lower the lid on their laptop or turn off the screen on their desktop. And I always point out that there is a difference between closing the lid immediately and closing the lid after they have a laugh with their friends. One of these is the right thing to do; the other can get you in trouble. Just like you can submit a HelpDesk ticket to have a site unblocked, you can use that same kind of ticket to get a site blocked as well. So make note of the web site and submit it so we can take care of it. Then navigate away for the student and let them go back to searching. Our filters aren't perfect, but we do our best. We want our students to know that even though they may stumble upon inappropriate content out there, they can always stumble right back away from it too!

Eduphoria is holding their bumper sticker design contest as they do every year around this time. I almost missed it, but they have extended their deadline to Tuesday so click here to enter. You can win a $250 Amazon gift card! Last year this contest was won by Kristy McCoy who is the DLC at Stafford and Pioneer Heritage!
