About the Presentation

  • Outcomes: As a result of attending , participants will:

  • Understand the shortcomings of the traditional teacher-evaluation process.

  • Understand the problems with some current ideas for teacher evaluation.

  • Explore and consider a different system of teacher supervision and evaluation involving mini-observations, student surveys, rubrics, and close work with teacher teams around curriculum unit planning and effective use of interim assessments.

  • Decide on possible next steps in their schools.

About the Presenter

Kim Marshall was a teacher, central office administrator, and principal in the Boston Pubic Schools for 32 years. He now advises and coaches new principals (mostly with New Leaders for New Schools), teaches courses and conducts workshops on instructional leadership and time management, and publishes a weekly newsletter, the Marshall Memo, which summarizes ideas and research from 44 publications (www.marshallmemo.com). Kim has written several books and numerous articles on teaching and school leadership. His most recent book is Rethinking Teacher Supervision and Evaluation (Jossey-Bass, 2009). He is married and has two children, both teachers.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation should be made in writing. A full refund will be made for cancellations postmarked, or sent via email, 7 days before the event.

No refunds will be given for requests received after 7 days before the event, or for "no shows". We do accept substitution of another person at our conference. 24 hours of notification is appreciated.

All received registrations are subject to Cancellation/Refund policy. Cost of registration fee is still liable whether payment is paid or unpaid, if no notice of cancellation is received at least 7 days prior to the event.

If minimum requirement enrollment is not met prior to the early registration deadline, the event may be postponed or canceled.
