Message From the Principal
High school seniors who attended Lake Tapps Elementary School years ago participated in our annual "Victory Tour" on Monday, June 6. Seniors from Sumner and Bonney Lake High Schools, Auburn Riverside and Bellarmine joined us in celebrating their graduation. They arrived at 12:30 and were greeted by cheering and clapping 3rd grade students in the lunchroom. They then made their way down the hallways while 1st and 2nd grade students cheered and clapped for them all the way. The seniors got to visit with their past elementary teachers while they were here. Some of our staff also arranged to play a video of the seniors when they were in 3rd grade, and provided snacks and swag in the library for them. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, the seniors, our staff, or our current students. In any case, what a very special time for the seniors as they are about to graduate from high school.
Reminder--tonight from 5:00-7:00pm is the PTA Family Picnic right here at LTES. Come on out and enjoy a hot dog meal, or ice cream, or BOTH, and a lot of fun with the activities and games! It's bound to be a great night with other LTES and DHES families. Rain or shine, we're ready to have fun!
For Field Day on June 16th we are pleased to offer Budget Saver popsicles, which are produced in a peanut and tree nut free facility. They are also free of the top 8 food allergens! For more information please visit https://www.twinpops.com/faq. These are the same popsicles the PTA Committee will be handing out to students on June 14th for the Reading At Home program.

From the Library
All library books were due today, June 10.
I hope your students have enjoyed their library books this year! Please help them return ALL books ASAP. We need time to complete our inventory before the last day of school. (If they need the weekend to finish a chapter book, they may return it on Monday June 13th.)
To continue finding great books to read, we encourage you to visit the Sumner or Bonney Lake library and explore the Pierce County Summer Reading Program. Getting a library card is easy and FREE!
Happy Reading!

From the District Nurse
Dear Dieringer Families:
We are nearing the end of the school year, just a few short weeks to go. Our staff, students, and families have shown amazing dedication and resilience for the past two years.
Since last spring, our top priorities have been to maximize in-person learning and slow the
spread of Covid-19. Our community has come a long way since the beginning of the school
year, however Covid is still present and impacting students and staff in our schools.
Covid case numbers have been going up in our community, and hence in our schools, for the
past couple of weeks. We would like to maintain a strong finish to the school year with healthy students and staff as much as possible. With that in mind, please remember the following to minimize the spread of the virus:
Wash hands frequently, and keep students home when they are sick. Test them for Covid with
any of the following symptoms not caused by a known chronic health condition. You may call
your school’s nurse or health technician for more symptom-specific guidance:
Fever
Chills
Cough
Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
Muscle or body aches
New loss of taste or smell
Unusual fatigue
Congestion/stuffy nose
Runny nose
Sore throat
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
If your student develops symptoms while at school, we can test them here with a rapid antigen test. Curative also has a PCR testing site at Auburn Memorial Stadium, 801 4th ST NE. The current hours are 7:30 am -1:30 pm Monday through Friday, and rapid PCR tests are available.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please visit
https://book.curative.com/sites/34106 . Appointments are preferred but not mandatory.
*Please note: the Auburn testing site at 2400 Perimeter Road will close effective June 1st.
We have had some outbreaks in classrooms in our district. Our goal is to slow the spread of
Covid. It is possible that if we continue to see outbreaks, we may need to reevaluate our
requirements, always consulting with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. Please
remember that masks are optional, but strongly recommended when exposed to help minimize the spread of the virus.
