What even is ADHD?
ADHD is a name given to a condition found in children and adults. Characterized by inattention, distractability, impulsivity, and sometimes hyperactivity. For some children the inability to focus, staying on task, sitting still, or thinking before acting causes "havoc" at school. This disease interferes with the development and maturity of the child. According to the National Institute of Mental Health one of the first descriptions of a child with ADHD was a poem written in 1845 by Heinrich Hoffman called "The Story of Fidgety Phillip"
Treatments and Medication
Since the 1950's ADHD has been treated with perscription drugs.
- Ritalin is the most popular.
- Helps at least 70% of people with ADHD
- Stattera is also a good perscription
