What We Are Doing This Week
Fables are wonderful fiction stories that teach the reader a lesson in the end. This week we will be reading and comparing "The Ant and The Grasshopper" and "The Ant and the Dove". We will discuss how they are the same and how they are difference. We will always see what lessons they will teach us..
Phonics:
Lesson 18 Combination er
Lesson 19 Combination ir
Lesson 21 Combination ur
Assessment - We want to see how much of our phonics that we are understanding and can apply when reading and writing.
Writing:
Last week we looked at what a personal narrative is and how we begin to decide what we want to write about. We read and talked about taking a family vacation or a special event that we did with our family. We went from looking at the whole (like a whole watermelon) to picking one time part of the vacation or event (the watermelon seed) to write about.
This week we will look more at transition words (first, then, next, finally) and writing more on our personal narrative.
In handwriting we are getting into cursive. We will be practicing the undercurve, the down curve, over curve and slant. The students are very excited about starting to learn cursive.
Grammar:
We will be learning about adjectives and how they describe the noun. This is a perfect time for adjectives as it will help make our personal narrative more interesting.
