From the Desk of Ms. Clark
February 21, 2020
Next week, we will enter the season of Lent. During this time, we have a wonderful opportunity to grow closer in our relationship to God. This forty day period, in which we practice prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, helps prepare our hearts for the death and Resurrection of Jesus.
More often than not, we focus on what we can give up during the Lenten season, not what we can give. We should model ourselves after Jesus’s example by showing gentleness to our classmates, parents, and coworkers. We should accept each other’s faults. We should refrain from gossiping or saying things that are hurtful or unkind. We should be sincere in our apologies and forgive those who have hurt us. We need to give of ourselves and share our time, talents and skills. Lent is a time to remind us how one small, kind deed can bring us closer to the person God wants us to be. Simple acts of kindness bring great joy to others and fill our own hearts with love.
As a school community, we will be coming together for Mass on Ash Wednesday at 9AM and for Stations of the Cross each Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. during Lent. Our students in grades 3 through 8 will also have the opportunity to participate in the sacrament of Reconciliation. Families are encouraged to participate in Operation Rice Bowl. We, as a school community, will work together to prepare our hearts for Easter.
Terra Nova Testing
Terra Nova testing will begin on Friday, March 20th. The Terra Nova Test is an assessment that we use to promote greater learning and academic growth of each student. In order to continue to obtain an accurate picture of our students’ achievement, please be sure that your children not only get a good night’s sleep, and eat a healthy breakfast, but also that they are not late for school or absent during this week. There will be no make-up tests for students who are absent for a reason other than illness.
