Primer Mid- February Newsletter

Review from the classroom
Shear joy was in the air on Wednesday as students received their play and play parts. As you might have noticed reading through the play; it is not just a play. The play has been building all year with the events and activities Primer students participated in and have yet to complete. Each field trip, speaker and curriculum project continues to be like a ripple in a pond leading up to our play. Right now, the students and I will be working on reading through the play lines and songs. In this edition of the newsletter you will find tips for helping your child memorize their lines. I would greatly appreciate your help and support. In the next newsletter you will find more specifics for our play. I do hope that you will join us either at 10:00 or 1:30 on Thursday, April 2 for our Primer Play "Go Fish." In the coming weeks students will make invitations and we will mail them to family and friends. I will send out a Google Form to collect addresses.
In conclusion, this weekend as allowed me to organize the student data as I go to draft report card comments. I must say the students have made strides academically this school year. I want to not only celebrate the students but the families as well. Educating children is a community effort. I am grateful for your help and support.

Raz Kids
Each student now has access to the book room on Raz-Kids. This means they have access to read and listen to a range of books. The students and I had a discussion that it is okay to read or listen to books that you are interested in reading. For example, if I completed my e-book on anacondas it would be okay for me to listen to a snake book. I told them I do not want to see that they are reading all easy books to accumulate points. With Raz-Kids, I am able to closely monitor the books students read and listen. I will notify you if I see any irregular patterns.

Number Line- Free
Number Line helps students visualize number sequences and model strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It can be used to represent sequences of numbers, including whole numbers and multiples of a variety of numbers.
Students can use what they know about number relationships and computation to identify missing elements of sequences shown on the number line.
This virtual number line is an open-ended educational tool, ideal for elementary classrooms and other learning environments that use iPads.Review taken from The Math Learning Center
