Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year!
It’s an exciting time of year as we prepare to open our doors for another school year. I hope you had a great summer and that you and your family are ready for another great year of learning and growth.
Our staff has been working hard to get our schools ready for the new year. Our facilities and maintenance crews have been putting the final touches on all those summer projects. Our Teaching and Learning and Student Services departments have spent the summer working on our District Continuous Improvement Plan, reviewing our curriculum needs, and planning professional development opportunities for all the educators in our district. And our administrative team has spent time this summer ensuring all of our school goals are aligned with our district’s mission and vision.
This year, you’ll notice a renewed focus on our positive school climate goals. Districtwide, we’re investing significant time and training into our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) protocols (please check out the video below). The goal is to align our behavioral expectations across the district. A positive school climate improves social, emotional, and academic outcomes for all students. This year, we have added staff to help work on our school climate goals. We have a district-level Behavior and Inclusion Coordinator, in addition to new Behavioral Instructional Assistants in each elementary school. These new team members will work closely to create positive places for student learning.
In addition, our district will actively solicit your input this year as we work on our plan for the Student Success Act (SSA). In May, the state legislature passed the SSA, which allocates additional funding for early childhood education, to address student wellness and academic improvement, and to address inequities in education. As part of the SSA, our district must develop a plan for these additional budget dollars. Parental feedback is a key part of the plan development. You can read more about the accountability measures of the SSA here.
I want you to know I am here to serve our students, their families, our staff, and our community. I know partnerships with parents are a key component to our success. Please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the year with your questions or concerns.
I look forward to another great school year as we work together to ensure all students, of all abilities, have all opportunities to reach their potential.
Best,
Trip Goodall

Every Day Matters
Did you know? There’s a close connection between school attendance and student success. Students who are chronically absent (missing 10% of the school year) are much more likely to struggle in school and have trouble graduating. If your student misses school two days a month, they are at risk!
It makes sense because every school day and every lesson builds on the one before, making it easy for absent students to fall behind. Get tips on how to improve your student’s attendance at www.every-day-matters.org.

Growth Mindset
In our schools, you'll see this as teachers encourage students to try things that are new and hard for them, instead of continuing to do things that are easy.
You can help reinforce a growth mindset at home! Click the button below for some tips on how to support a growth mindset in your student!
Lunch Menu Nutrition Information
The "so hAPPy" app lets you see lunch menus, review nutritional and allergen information, and track your steps. You can connect parent and child accounts to help your student make safe and healthy choices in the lunch line. You can download the app below.
