Pre - Screening Hearing and Vision
In accordance with Maryland State Law students in Montgomery County, Public Schools are screened for possible vision and hearing problems. Trained hearing and vision screeners will screen students new to MCPS, students in Grade (s) 8, and students referred by teachers because of possible signs of hearing or vision problems. The screeners will be at Argyle Middle School on September 27, 28, and 29.
Children who do not see clearly or are unable to hear what their teachers and classmates are saying have a harder time learning at school.
You will receive a referral form, via US mail, to take to your child’s doctor if your child fails the screening. If your child is already under care for a hearing or vision problem, or you do not wish your child to be screened at school because of conflicts with your religious beliefs, please notify the school nurse in writing.
If your child wears glasses or contacts they should wear them daily and bring them to the screening.
School-based vision screenings may not detect every vision problem. To learn more about possible vision problems and symptoms or health conditions that may require additional evaluation go to Montgomery County Government’s website: Click Here
If you have questions about your child’s screening, please contact Argyle's health room with telephone number 240-740-6372
Student Government Association Interest Meeting
The SGA will have its first meeting on Wednesday, September 28th. SGA meetings are open to All 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Students, you want to make things happen at Argyle? Then be sure to attend and start making your voices and ideas heard.
SSL Hours
Please have students submit their SSL hours from this summer. Any SSL hours earned after June 1st, 2022, should be turned into the counseling office. We encourage families to submit SSL paperwork on a rolling basis of September 23rd, 1/6/23, and 6/2/23. For more SSL information, parents can view the counseling website, Linked Here.
Traffic Control at Arrival and Dismissal
Help support our effort to increase student and staff safety during arrival and dismissal. Add your support to our request to the county to change traffic patterns on Bel Pre Road so staff do not need to direct traffic into and out of the school. Email or call MCDot at TrafficOps@montgomerycountymd.gov or 240-777-2190, reference log number 79219, and say you support a safer traffic pattern at Argyle Middle School.
Attendees of any MCPS Athletic Event
All spectators for any MCPS Athletic event are reminded of the expectation to ACT RESPECTFULLY.
Every one of us represents our school and all of Montgomery County Public Schools and we ask that you reflect on the following statement.
The core values of the MCPS athletics program teach and reinforce respect and sportsmanship, academic excellence, integrity and character, spirited and safe competition, and equity and access. It is vital that spectators support these values by showing appropriate behavior at athletic events by following these simple guidelines.
Applaud all student-athletes for their efforts.
Accept the decisions of officials and coaches.
Appreciate all participants for their commitment.
Support school personnel in conducting a spirited and safe contest.
Maintain composure when something seems to go against your team.
Respect the rights of other spectators.
Reward sportsmanlike behavior through cheering.
Focus attention on the positive aspects of competition.
Encourage student-athletes by showing enthusiasm and positive recognition. and…
Demonstrate concern for the safety and welfare of student-athletes and each other
We all are winners when we demonstrate respect for ourselves and our school.
