News From the Office

If you are a parent of a fourth grader, look for your child's M-Step results from last year to come home today!

Tomorrow is Pink Day! Please help us support those fighting cancer as a district. Don't forget the Pink Night BHS football game at 7:00 pm.

Remember, adult supervision is not outside until 8:35 am. Please do not drop off your child before then.

Also, we are building independence each day. Please let your child walk to their classroom by themselves.

We're starting to see trends develop in those coming in late. If this continues, you will soon receive a letter from the building principal. Just a reminder, three tardies equal one absence.

Question of the Week

We learn new things by asking questions. Please take a moment to answer the one question survey. All of the information gathered is anonymous. Thank you for your time.

What I Learned

Last week's question was how we could make our PTO meetings more convenient for families. From those that responded, it appears that most families would like the meetings later in the evening. It also appears more families would like childcare. Well, the good news is we do! Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 9 at 4:00 pm. We will have childcare available.

As always, thanks for your input as we plan for future events.

Mini Book Fair October 12th 8-4:30

We will hold our Mini Book Fair in the school library on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 8-4:30. Students will be allowed to shop on their own during lunch recess (send money in an envelope with their name and class clearly marked). They are also welcome to shop with a parent before or after school. We will be open during the Fun Run if any parents want to shop without their students.

Thank you,

Mrs. Adams

Spencer T-shirt Order

Spencer T-shirt orders are due tomorrow. If you haven't sent in the order form, please do so tomorrow. Your child will wear this shirt for the Roadrunner Run coming up on October 12, as well as for other events and field trips throughout the year. (I attached the order form so they can print if they don't have one at home)

4th Grade Parent Volunteer Needed

We still need a 4th grade parent to step up to lead Popcorn Fridays, which will hopefully begin in October. The money made funds the 4th grade farewell party at the end of the year. If we do not have a leader and volunteers to run this, there won't be funds for the farewell. Please contact Kristie Hopka if you are interested.

Looking For Sponsors

We are looking for sponsors for our Roadrunner Run. Cost to sponsor is $200 and your company logo will appear on the back of over 700 Spencer t-shirts. What a great way to advertise your business! Sponsorships are due September 25, so please contact Kristie Hopka ASAP if you or someone you know if interested in supporting our school.

Roadrunner Run

On Friday, October 12, Spencer Elementary will participate in our 7th annual Roadrunner Run! This event is our first fundraiser of the year and helps to pay for all the fun events and programs throughout the school year.

Fundraising will kick off on Friday, September 28th. Students will be asked to raise at least $25.00 each to reach our fundraising goal of $12,000. That is only five - $5.00 donations from family and friends! Watch for information packets with everything you need to know about the run to come home next Friday, September 28.

Pink Out

Tomorrow is the Pink Out. Join the other Brighton schools in wearing pink to show your support for breast cancer research.
