Time Flies
Have you ever noticed that the older you get, the faster time seems to go. This is not just a perception. In fact, studies have been done to explore this phenomenon. The reason for why time seems to accelerate is actually quite logical. The older we get, each year represents a smaller and smaller portion of our life. When we were 10 years old, each year was a full 10% of our life. Now that (some of us) are in our 40s, that same year only represents 2.5% of our life, so naturally it seems to go faster.
This has become glaringly obvious as we are rapidly approaching semester change (Feb 1). 50% of the school year has elapsed, which seems almost impossible. It has been an amazing year. As I reflect back on what we have done, and specifically what how our students have accomplished, I am humbled and having been given the opportunity to be a part of it. At this point in the year, I want to pause and give credit where credit is due.
To the staff of PPCS, thank you for creating an amazing environment for our students to learn in. I am surrounded by consumate professionals and do not take that for granted.
To our families, thank your for sharing your kiddos with us and for being amazing supports of what we are trying to do at PPCS, even when it seems crazy.
To our partners, thank you for supporting our craziness. Our community supports our school at an unprecedented level. This support allows us to ensure that the students of PPCS have access to the most amazing learning opportunities and experiences possible.
To our students, you are awesome! I never take for granted that we have the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing students in the world. Thanks for making your school an awesome place to work and learn.
Looking forward to semester 2, I can't wait to see the amazing things we will accomplish together.

Book and a Bagel
Huge thanks to our SCC who organized a great end to literacy week on Friday. The SCC hosted a Book and a Bagel and we had an amazing turnout of families who came to have some breakfast and enjoy a good book. Thanks as well to the staff who helped in organizing. It was an awesome morning.
Grade 7 Girls PAA Helps Out with Bonspiel
Our grade 7 girls PAA class was busy last week preparing desserts for the Porcupine Plain Curling Club Bonspiel banquet. They prepared mini cheesecakes. Thanks to the Porcupine Plain Curling Club for giving our girls a chance to show off their talents.
Huge Thanks to Affinity Credit Union
A huge thank you to affinity CU for providing an 8k grant for PPCS Outdoor Ed and PE to purchase a class set of cross country ski packages. We have just enough snow to test them out and so far the kids have been loving the experience. Thank you for your continued support of our outdoor projects and making this possible.

Volunteers and Athletes of the Month
Volunteer of the month.
Mr. Harbor gets the nod for this months helper. He is currently coaching jr and sr girls basketball and has been known to blow the odd whistle too. He is our go to for all things film, tech and trouble shooting. Thank you for all that you do for our Athletics and good luck with the remainder or your season.
Athletes of the Month
Luis Sabayton had a big December leading the Sr. Boys in scoring and most defensive categories. His hustle and focus is a deadly combination when added to his speed and high skill level. Luis has emerged as a strong leader for the team and simply says “I just want to win”. Luis knows the hard work that winning takes and isn’t afraid to do it. Awesome month Luis keep on cookin.
Earl Santiago is adjusting nicely to his role of a leader on the Jr. squad but a young pup on the Sr. end. Earl is very selfless and shows great understanding of our goals for each team to get better even if that means he isn’t on the floor. He positive, easy going attitude is infectious and he holds himself to a high standard. We have big expectations of Earl and sometimes we forget he is a grade 8 but if we didn’t think he could do it we wouldn’t ask. Great month Earl.

Check Your Punch Card Balance
Please note, as we get used to this new system, please be aware that punch card balances may be up to 1 week behind.
Once you click the link below and find your child's account number, you will see a number to the left of their account number (i.e. 17). That number will not change, so you only have to remember that number going forward.
We hope that this will help our families.
