From the Nurses’ Office
Illinois state law requires that all children entering kindergarten, second grade, and sixth grade will have an oral health examination. A licensed dentist must perform the dental exam and he/she shall sign and date the report form. Dental offices usually have the form, but the dental exam form can be obtained by clicking here, or by contacting your child’s school and requesting a dental exam form, or by visiting d303.org website under departments, then Health Services. This exam must be completed within 18 months of May 15, 2022.
In an effort to assist you in completing this oral health exam for your child, the Mobile Dentist will be on site at Davis on April 6 and Richmond on April 7, provided we have enough students for the Mobile Dentist to come. Please consider taking this opportunity of in-school care at little to no cost to you. The Mobile Dentist accepts Medicaid and private insurance. Self-pay by cash or check for $70 is also available for those without insurance coverage. Services provided are cleaning, screening, sealants, and flouride. Forms will be sent home and are available in the health office or by clicking www.mobiledentists.com. Please return the form by 3/14/22. Sign up can also be completed online by clicking here: My School Dentist
Students who had already signed up for the Mobile Dentist dates in February that were canceled, will be automatically signed up for April 6 & 7th unless you notify the nurse that you no longer want your child to visit the Mobile Dentist.
If you have any questions, please contact your school’s health office:

NORTHWESTERN MEDICINE PRESENTED: THINKFIRST FOR KIDS ASSEMBLY
Davis 1st Grade students participated in an assembly on Wednesday, March 2nd by zoom. Street Smart, an engaging robot, taught our students how important their brains and spinal columns are and how following a few safety rules while being active will protect them. All 1st-grade students were fitted for a helmet and will bring them home in their backpacks. Included is a handout about how to fit a helmet.

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering
Dads/male guardians/grandpas/uncles/adult brothers etc. volunteer in school to provide positive male role models for students.
Lend an extra set of eyes and ears to make the school safer

Watch Dogs Revised this Year - We will not be visiting classrooms. Instead, volunteers will support students during all lunch periods both inside and outside. Watch Dog day will be on Fridays, beginning after spring break. Please sign up for one day only, in order to provide opportunities for everyone who is interested. Volunteers will eat lunch with their own child/children and help all students during mealtime as needed and interact with students at recess.
Times will be from 10:50-1:30
Fridays = Volunteer Day!
We ask that each volunteer commit to one day only
Your Day: support all students in the lunchroom and during recess

Contact Chris Hittmeier with additional questions or clarification christine.hittmeier@d303.org 331-228-4952
What do I need to do before my volunteer day?
You will need to submit both the "Consent for Fingerprinting" form and the "Volunteer Information Form and Waiver of Liability" for. We will then forward to our human resources department and once approved, we will send you a fingerprint authorization form. You must have this before your fingerprinting appointment in order for the district to pay for it. Make an appointment with the Kane County ROE (Regional Office of Education) through their online portal kaneroe.org . Indicate “volunteer” (not WatchDog as this could be confused with a local park district program) on the fingerprinting form. Please do not go to the ROE without an appointment. Make the appointment as soon as you are able to provide for enough time for your background check to be completed before your volunteer date. It typically takes about 1- 2 weeks.
You will also need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours prior to entering the school building.
What should I wear?
Blue jeans/khakis and comfortable shoes are recommended.
A light shirt to wear under your Watch D.O.G.S. t-shirt. Also, masks are highly recommended.
Who do I contact if I have questions or need to reschedule?
Chris Hittmeier christine.hittmeier@d303.org 331-228-4952
Where do I go when I arrive?
Present photo identification at the front office and you will be given a Watch D.O.G.S. t-shirt. Please contact the office in the morning by 9:00 AM if you wish to order lunch for yourself. ($3 cash or deducted from your child's pushcoin account.)

Panorama SEL Survey
This year, students in grades 3-12 will be completing a universal screening tool to assess their social and emotional learning skills. The use of universal screening allows us to refine and strengthen our efforts to help all students achieve success by taking positive and preventative measures as early as possible. This also provides us with the opportunity to assist students who may need additional support with social and emotional learning. Students will take the survey again in the spring.

ART NEWS
Hello Richmond Families!
In art classes (grades 3-5), our students will be learning to upload a photo of their work onto Artsonia, the world’s largest online student art museum. It's a free, safe, educational program designed to connect parents and families with their child's creative activities at school. Many of you are familiar with Artsonia because we have used it in the past.
Founded over 15 years ago, Artsonia has been recognized with the national distinguished
service award for outstanding contribution to the arts by the National Art Education Association, as well as the distinguished service award by the state art associations in New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan and Colorado.
Families new to the Artsonia App, please look for the invitation slip that will come home from Artsonia. (It has a unique code for your child) If you would like to grant permission for your child to join our exciting school art gallery follow the directions on this slip or click on the link and enter your child's name and grade, along with an email address: https://www.artsonia.com/connect/6M2ZZPX2 (code 6M222PX2)
We participate only for the digital gallery and it is not necessary to purchase anything that Artsonia offers. Thank you for your support! If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at Julie.lambert@d303.org.
