Positive Behavior Update
Right now, our students are earning two types of rewards as a school:
• Pride Perks - Small coupons given to any student when they do something well. Students put these pride perks coupons into jars because we are having a Students vs. Staff sports assembly on May 30. Students are earning coupons for a chance to be in the various events during the assembly.
• Golden Lions - So far, we have given out about 650 Golden Lions this year. We are trying to get to 700 by our assembly on May 30. If we do, then one Golden Lion winner from each homeroom will get to throw a pie in Mr. Sepersky's face (which was a big hit back in January ... for everyone except Mr. Sepersky!)
For the entire school year:
64% of our students have never had an incident entered into our system (196)
12% of our students have had a single incident this year (37)
14% of our students have had 2-5 incidents this year (43)
10% of our students have had 6+ incidents this year (32)
That means over 3/4 of our students have had 0-1 issues this ENTIRE school year! Not many schools can brag about how great our students behave and engage. At Lakeview, we are proud to say that so many of students follow the expectations every minute of every day. Please ask your student if they are earning Pride Perks and Golden Lions!
Final PTO Meeting of the School Year
Golden Lions
We had 16 Golden Lions this week at Lakeview! Please read on to hear our students demonstrate special moments of "Be Safe ~ Be Respectful ~ Be Engaged".'
• Besim offered to help another student to understand and make equivalent fractions. Besim rose above and beyond demonstrating kindness regardless of how he was treated.
• Frankie worked hard and carefully on her MAP testing last week. Her engagement in lessons and in independent work was shown in her scores. Amazing work!
• Kiyus helped clean up room 117 by sweeping the floors, organizing items, and tidying up. He made the space so much cleaner! Thank you for making a positive difference in our school by being respectful and responsible for cleaning up. We appreciate it and you did such a good job!
• During clean up at lunch, Sammy slowed down and took the time to organize the lunch trays. Way to go, Sammy! Thank you for respecting our lunchroom!
• Jensen was very focused on collaging his Artist Trading Cards. He worked hard during Art class, and used his materials creatively. He even helped Ms. DH pick up some tools off the floor. Thank you, Jensen!
• Kiyus did a great job helping me organize the 4th graders' art in the display case. He was respectful of each project and handled with care! Thanks for your help, Kiyus!!
• Yeli is consistently respectful throughout Art class. When directions are being given, she stops what she is doing, faces the teacher and listens actively. Yeli, thank you for always setting a great example!
• Antonella persevered in her Math. She worked really hard on our new learning and paid close attention so that she would grow in her understanding. Keep up the hard work!
• Daisy stayed completely engaged in her Math work so that she could practice our new strategy. She also really used her time wisely and helped her partner increase his understanding.
• [Name] had a situation arise with a student and she was willing to sit down with the student and was able to take ownership on her part of the problem, apologize and work on a solution. Keep up the great work!!
