A message from Mrs. Thompson
Good afternoon,
I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break. We had a fun and exciting week here at Bush! Kindergarten had a wonderful time celebrating Polar Express Day today and our kids have enjoyed looking for our school Elf "Jingle" around campus.
Next Tuesday, I will be hosting "Pastries with the Principal." As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, my biggest priority for this semester is to meet all of our Bush parents and families and get to know each of you and your children better. It will be a come and go informal event, and I hope to see you all there!
We are in need of volunteers to help with our morning drop off! If you are available early in the morning and looking for a way to help our school, please consider volunteering! There is a link below this message in the Carline and Moveable Minutes section.
Lastly, I want to remind you all that when you are dropping off or picking up your children, please make sure you are turning right at the stop sign on Crownridge. We would hate for their to be any accidents or for anyone in our Bush community to get hurt.
Thank you for everything you do for your children and our school!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson

School zone and car rider drop off safety reminders
As a reminder our school doors do not open until 7:30 AM. We ask that you do not drop off your child before that time as they will be on the front porch unattended.
- Please remember to remind your children not to cross until the crossing guards are at their posts in the morning.
- A picture of your child's barcode on your phone will not work for car rider line. We have to scan each barcode, and you need the actual print out.
- Please do not drop of children on Crownridge Drive at the school path. If you are in car line the children should remain in the vehicle until they are at the front of the school.
- While driving, allow crossing guards to cross children and to return to the sidewalk before driving through the crosswalk.
- Cell phones should not be used while in the school zone.
- No dogs are allowed on school property.
- U-turns are not allowed on Crownridge Drive.
- Please do not sit on the curb or allow your children to play in the street.
Carline & Moveable Minute Volunteers
We are in need of volunteers to assist with our morning. Car Line and Moveable Minutes. Carline is from 7:30-8:00 and you can simply report to the front ramp and assist. For Moveable Minutes, each morning, between 7:30-8:10, students of a particular grade are able to have some extra morning activity before school begins while their teachers meet as a team. You can assist with any grade level, but if you are interested in attending when your student is participating, the schedule is as follows:
Mondays: Kinder, Tuesdays: 1st, Wednesdays: 2nd, Thursdays: 3rd, Fridays: 4th
Please remember when volunteering inside the building, it will be necessary to complete the CISD volunteer form found on their website. It will also be necessary to check in at the front desk with your drivers license. Click here to signup.

Gifts to School Employees
As we move into the holiday season, we realize that many parents and students will want to give gifts to staff members. We are all thankful for the generosity of our community. There are some rules governed, in part, by state law related to what school employees may accept. If you choose to give a gift to a school employee, please keep these things in mind.
- The gift may not be intended to influence the teacher to pass the student of give the student some other kind of preferential treatment.
- State law prohibits public employees from accepting gifts if the gift is valued at over $50. No gift may be in the form of cash or some other negotiable instrument. Therefore, no gift from a student to a teacher should be valued at more than $50. A gift card in an amount larger than $50 is acceptable so long as no individual student contributed more than $50 toward the gift card. Local Board Policy DBD states, "An employee shall not accept or solicit any gift, favor, service or any other benefit that could reasonably be construed to influence the employee's discharge of assigned duties and responsibilities."
Reminder: Transportation Changes
Transportation changes must be made in writing before 2:00 PM. We cannot accept transportation changes by phone. To submit a transportation change, you may send a written note to your child's teacher or provide a not to the front office with the following information:
- the date
- your child's full name
- homeroom teacher
- bus number (if applicable)
- your signature
If an emergency arises, you may send an email to bush@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include all of the above information, including a parent signature, and must be received before 2:00 PM. If you submit a transportation change by email, it must go to the email address referenced above. Teachers do not check their email regularly throughout the day, so transportation changes should not be emailed directly to the teacher.
Please send a new note for each day the change occurs; we cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented
Referral requests will be collected from October 1through December 17, 2021, for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted starting Oct 1st. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. You may request a referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
