Shady Cove School Newsletter

March 2020

Last month we focused on the "C" in WICOR, which stands for Collaboration. This month we are focusing on the "O", which is organization. AVID classrooms look to organization to manage materials, plan & prioritize, and help scholars strategically controlling their learning responsibly. Students who learn to organize are more likely able to develop & use processes, manage their time well, interact with their teachers, and use self-direction & self evaluation. Here are a few examples of what you may see with regards to organization in our classrooms: focus note taking, binder/folder use, agendas, planners, graphic organizers, calendars, etc...

Do you want to go with your child on a field trip this year? Or do you want to help in a classroom or with a school activity?

Before taking part in a volunteer activity such as a field trip, applicants must complete a criminal background check. Background checks are good for several years.

To access the online volunteer application, click here or go to our district website at Click on Parents & Students and then Volunteer Information. Once you have completed the online application, it takes approximately 48 hours to process. Complete the process now so that you are ready for upcoming field trips.
