Lansing Elementary Weekly Update
Newsletter for the Lansing Elementary School Family
January 27, 2024
Dear Families,
We had a busy week, with school on Monday, a snow day on Tuesday and our rescheduled Mini-cheer clinic on Wednesday and Thursday. We also had our January LES Site Council Meeting on Thursday. On Friday we had our school PRIDE assemblies over the character trait of Integrity. Thank you to the families who joined us in celebrating our students. Our mini-cheer students also performed on Friday at the high school basketball game.
One of our LES Site Council goals for the 2023-2024 school year is to increase the number of families completing our annual Family Engagement Survey. We use the results of this survey to determine how we are interacting with our community and in which areas we can improve. The winning class at each grade level by % of respondents will receive a prize. Please use this link to access our Family Engagement Survey and enter your student(s) for a prize: https://forms.gle/a54vjJ8A1WD7MtUy9
Starting this week, we will include a reading tip or game for families in our newsletters. Our first tip relates to phonemic awareness or the ability to hear and manipulate individual sounds. Please find phonemic awareness information and a short game below.
This week we have late start on Thursday and our USD 469 Inclusive Playground Meeting at 4:00 in the library. All are welcome to attend.
A few reminders:
Family Events & PTA: Our next Parent-Teacher Association meeting is February 22nd. Doors open at 6:00 and the meeting starts at 6:30pm.
Site Council: Our next Site Council Meeting is February 29th from 4-5pm.
If your students are in need of winter clothing, please reach out to our counselors Christine.Bachtel@usd469.net and/or Tami.Scrivo@usd469.net
Have a wonderful week!
Respectfully,
Dr. Jennifer R. Kolb
