The Manning Weekly Newsletter
December 6, 2019
Dear Families,
One of the core tenets upon which Manning was founded is a strong partnership between our school and our families. We take seriously our responsibility to collaborate with you to ensure that our students' middle school experience fosters their growth as students, thinkers, learners and people.
Below is a link to complete an anonymous survey about our school's partnership with you. It will take 10-15 minutes, and it closes Friday, Dec. 20. Your survey responses guide our conversations and decisions about how to improve. We take them to heart, and we are grateful for your candor.
If the link below does not work, please copy and paste the link into your browser.

Thanks, as always, for sharing your kids with us; it is our honor to serve them!

Monday, December 9- 6th Graders are Departing for Outdoor Lab!
7th and 8th GRADE FAMILIES: Please be aware and patient as 6th graders and their families drop off their luggage and prepare for departure for the week. There may be some additional congestion and activity that morning. Thanks for understanding!
- Arrival Time is 7:30-8:15 am
- Here is the 2019-2020 Packing List. Please leave non-essentials (technology, make-up, etc.) at home. Your child will have to carry all of their luggage, so be aware of space.

After dropping off luggage, students will report to Access. Please say goodbye outside; parents will not be let in with students.

From Manning Sources of Strength
The Hub
Manning Sources of Strength is currently participating in “The Hub”. The Hub is a community held event hosted at Stevens Elementary. The Hub collects items like clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and non-perishable food, to give to Colorado families who are in need of support. Manning Sources will be outside before and after school on Thursday and Friday of this week, and next week, collecting donations. All donations will be accepted on these dates, on the 16th of December, Manning Sources of Strength will drop off all of the supplies that we as a school has collected at Stevens Elementary. Donations will also be accepted at student’s Heart Time classes.
Thankfulness Campaign
Sources of Strength is actively working on their thankfulness campaign, displaying snowflakes in the halls, which students will write what they are thankful for on the snowflakes during their Heart Time.
Special Thanks to: Home Depot for donating over forty cardboard boxes for Manning to raise food in for the Hub!
The Manning PTA is excited to announce our new multi-year fundraiser, “The March of the Mustangs!”
As most of you have experienced, our “vintage” auditorium seats are in desperate need of replacing. Anyone who has sat through an event in excess of 10 minutes is sure to agree that it is time for an upgrade! The auditorium is a highly utilized space. All students use this space for assemblies and enrichment programs. Approximately 80% of our students participate in band, orchestra, choir and/or musical theater. The auditorium is a first impression of our school for prospective families during information nights and all enrolled families during the spring meet-and-greet and back-to-school nights.
Not surprisingly, replacing our auditorium seats will be a very expensive endeavor. While we are all excited for our building expansion, unfortunately all recently passed bond dollars allocated to Manning will be needed to fund the new build. The expansion will replace the five current cottages and add one additional classroom.
So how much do we need to raise? $100,000. Yes, $100,000. This is an ambitious fundraising goal for any PTA, but we have full confidence that the Manning community will rally around this goal.
How you can help:
We are looking for additional volunteers to join our already positive and enthusiastic fundraising committee. Are you a creative thinker? Do you have auction experience? Do you love to plan fun events? Do you want to work alongside other fun and committed parents? We need you!
We will be hosting several fun fundraising events over the next 18 months. Come and join in!
We will be offering opportunities to “purchase” a new auditorium chair with an engraved plaque and engraved bricks.
Do you have questions?
Feel free to drop us a note at manningmiddlepta@gmail.com

If you have not done so already, please visit Jeffco Connect to pay your student’s ticket fee or call and pay over the phone with a credit card by Friday December 6th. If needed you may also send a check or cash in with your student to turn in to their access teacher.
