The Star Gazer
March 6-10
New Information
Next week is parent teacher conferences on Monday and Tuesday nights from 3:15-6:30 pm. Please mark your calendar and try to be on time. The schedule is very tight trying to get all our parents in for these important meetings. For K-2nd, students will share their goals and progress and help the teacher lead the conference. For 3rd-5th, students will be leading their own conference but teachers will be available to answer questions or meet with you individually if needed. Don't forget to stop by our library for the book fair. It will be open late both nights for you to shop with your child. The book fair will also be open for shopping during the school day all week. (See information below from Mrs. Gadberry)
Tonight at 10:00 the Read A Thon closes! Don't forget to spend the last few hours getting in some time spent reading and last minute donations!
Our Boots and Beauties dance for Shaw girls is coming up March 30th. Would you be willing to volunteer? If so please click below and sign up for a slot! Thanks so much!
Repeated Information (but still important!)
New Visitor Policy for Student Lunches
We welcome our families to come and eat lunch with their students any school day. We love how our families want to enjoy their time together in our school environment! We are however, going to limit visits to parents and their children. The Galaxy area has gotten crowded because of the extra friends and classmates that come and we don't have enough staff to provide supervision for this area. Additionally, we do have classrooms in that area so large groups of students visiting can cause learning distractions in those rooms. We appreciate you understanding our need to make this change!
Clothing Donations Needed:
We keep clothes at school for students who have accidents and need to change before going home. If you are cleaning out and have boys and girls clothes sizes 4T-7, we would love the donations. Items particularly needed: stretch- waist leggings or sweatpants, long sleeve shirts. Please send any items to the office labeled "Donations for Nurse".
New Kindergarten Registration for 2023-2024: New Kindergarten and new student registration will be open starting March 1st. Below you will find a list of required items to start collecting to prepare for registration. All registration is done online and the site is linked to the Kindergarten Registration Title below. If your child attends the Springdale Schools Pre-K program, you will not need to enroll online but in another way. Teachers will give you guidance as it gets closer.

Many of you have supported us in this way in the years past and it has continued to be a fun addition to our week at school. You can send items or just money and we will take care of it for you. If you'd like to sign up for the 2nd semester, click the link here. As always, we appreciate your support so much!
Save the earth and help Shaw (Clear items like milk cartons do not work- see below)
We are collecting #2 recyclables in collaboration with Boston Mountain Solid Waste. If we can collect 2000 items by Spring Break, we will receive a new bench for our playground made from recycled materials. See the image below of items we are collecting! Look for the #2 on the bottom!
