Maryland School Survey
Maryland requires that all public schools survey students about school climate. Last year the Maryland School Survey was administered with great success and data has been shared with schools. The purpose of the survey is to gain valuable information about the quality and character of each school’s learning environment so that schools can promote a climate that supports student learning.
Students in 9th through 11th grade will take the survey at NCHS the week of March 16th. The survey will take about 30 minutes and will ask students about topics such as student engagement, interactions with adults and with other students in the school, the school environment, bullying, and safety. The survey will not ask about a student’s personal experiences and students will not be asked to provide any information that might violate his or her privacy.
The survey is confidential and school personnel will not have access to the responses of specific students. The responses your child provides will be combined with the responses from other students in the school, and results will be reported for each school and district.
We are eager to receive this very important information about your child’s school and about schools across the state.
If you have any questions about this survey, please contact the Survey Administrator at the Maryland State Department of Education by emailing to: survey.msde@maryland.gov

DIGITAL FLYER DELIVERY
Exciting news! In an effort to provide increased access to information about school and community programs and events, Caroline County Public Schools is preparing to launch Peachjar. This new platform will enable us to send important school and approved after school flyers to parents digitally, saving our schools time, money, and paper.
School-approved digital flyers will be sent to your email inbox where you can easily click to sign up for events and programs. You can also view all approved flyers by clicking the Peachjar button located on your school’s website homepage.
No action is required to begin receiving this communication from your school. You’ll receive a welcome email from Peachjar that includes a username and password. You don’t need to log in to receive or view school flyers, but you can log in to adjust your delivery preferences.
To ensure you don’t miss notifications, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts and click “always display images” when you receive your first email.
This system is used exclusively for the distribution of school-approved flyers only. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events!

Service Learning Hours -
Please make every effort to complete your service learning as soon as possible. 75 hours of service learning is not only a graduation requirement but is very beneficial when completing college and scholarship applications.
It must be done prior to your senior year to avoid loss of privileges and being placed on the obligation list.
If you need mid-year transcripts, it is your responsibility to either request them through Naviance, or in writing. If in writing, please submit your request to Mrs. Wilkins.
Wellness
March is National Nutrition month! Celebrate by learning and practicing healthy eating habits that help us get fit. Don’t know where to begin? It’s simple! Here are a few tips to help you incorporate healthy food, nutrition and physical activity into your family’s life every day:
- Enjoy your food, but eat less and avoid oversized portions by using a smaller plate.
- Don’t skip breakfast. It is provided FREE at school everyday and is a very important meal!
- Make half of your plate consist of fruits and vegetables. Experiment with different types and
colors, including fresh, frozen and canned- prepared steamed or eaten raw.
- Make half of your grains whole grains- try oatmeal, popcorn, whole-gain bread and brown rice.
- Quench your thirst with water instead of drinks with added sugar. Soda, energy and sports
drinks are a major source of added sugar and calories- save them for a special treat!
- Start reading food labels. Plan to eat as a family at least a few times a week without the
interruption of TV or other electronics. And try to get the entire family involved in meal planning and cooking, using the time to teach good nutrition.
- Be active- at least 60 minutes a day. You don’t have to hit the gym- take a walk after dinner or
play a fun outdoor game as a family. Regular physical activity is so important to good health!
These tips will help provide a good foundation to improving the health of your entire family. For more information on the types of food you should be eating check out www.myplate.gov , or call the Wellness Center at North Caroline High School at 410-479-4653. It’s open Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm!
