Looking for Volunteers
We are looking for some volunteers to help us reorganize the Word Study materials for students at Rose Glen. Thank you for sharing your valuable time! There are two ways to help:
Come to Rose Glen during a time that works with your schedule to make copies, relabel items, and file materials.
Help at home. Materials will be sent home for you to cut apart and place in baggies, then return. You could take as many days as needed to cut and return, up to a week, so there is some flexibility.
If you can help in either of these ways, please email Susan Aleson at firstname.lastname@example.org or write the following on paper and return to Susan Aleson at Rose Glen. Thank you so much for your help!
Name, email address, phone number, your child’s name and class code

Join Our Guatemala Adventure
We are beginning to plan our visit to our partner school in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. We will go for 10-12 days during the second half of June, 2020. We may return at the end of June, or possibly July 1st or 2nd.
Please join us! Find out more details! No commitment necessary at this time. For more information please contact: Susan Aleson email@example.com Cell 262-893-7588
It is NOT necessary to speak Spanish to have a wonderful time on our adventure. You WILL be required to have a passport. If you are considering the trip, it’s best to start the passport process asap.
The trip will include approximately 4 days in Chichicastenango where we will visit the school, Flavio Rodas, the students and teachers. Homestays with families will be available to those who are interested. We will spend a day in the market in Chichi - a world famous shopper’s dream! Our group will plan for the rest of the time experiencing the beauty and adventure in Guatemala.
The cost of the trip can only be estimated based on prices that are available today. These estimates will be updated as we get closer to our departure date. At this time we estimate $1500, which includes airfare, accommodations, and ground transportation. It should not be more than that. The estimate does NOT include food, souvenir shopping, or extra airfare for adventure. Our experience has been that food is VERY reasonably priced.
On past trips we have experienced…
...the former capital city of Antigua
...coffee plantation tour
...day hike to Volcan Pacaya
...Lake Atitlan and surrounding villages
...the black sand beach of Monterrico on the Pacific coast (extra bus trip)
...the Mayan ruins and jungle of Tikal (extra flight)
...Belize - snorkeling, sea kayaking, lobster (extra flight)
The group will decide where our sightseeing/adventure part of the trip will be.

Safe Arrival Attendance System
Pre-Excused Absences: If you know your child is going to be absent and you want to report that before the student is marked absent in school, Safe Arrival provides three convenient methods:
1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.com). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
2. Use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
3. Call the toll-free number 1-866-490-7371 to report an absence using the automated phone system. These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.
Future absences can be reported at any time.
Post-Excused Absences: If you were not able to report your child’s absence in advance you will be notified by the SchoolMessenger system if your child is marked absent.
You are notified of a reported absence within minutes of the reported absence.
The School Messenger app or the website will allow families to customize where they want to receive their notifications and allow them to excuse the absence right from the notification.
If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.

Health Room News
If you have any health room clothing please return it. Our supply is limited.
If you could please make sure your student has an extra pair of shoes here for gym that would be great. After all the rain we had, many phone calls were made for dry shoes. Now with the weather change upon us having the backup pair of shoes here would be a big help !!!
Thank you for your understanding,

Birthday Party Invitations
Birthday Celebrations and Invitations
Each child at Rose Glen is a gift and their birthday is very special day! Again this year, each classroom teacher will ensure that birthdays are acknowledged and each child knows that their birthday is important and is a celebration. As we did last year, we will not have students bringing in birthday treats to the classroom. This will ensure that all children within the classroom are able to participate in the celebration and it also aligns with our district wellness guidelines and procedures. If you have any questions, then please contact the office.
We strongly encourage families to use the online school directory (MySchoolAnywhere) to obtain information necessary to send invitations to families for student birthday parties. Invitations will not be distributed at school unless there is an invitation for the whole class. Again, the preference is for families to utilize MySchoolAnywhere to connect with other families in regards to birthday party information. Therefore, please remember to sign-up for this PTO sponsored resource to ensure that you are able to connect with other families and other families are able to connect with you!
Rose Glen Online Directory
Did you know that Rose Glen has an online family directory? Have you signed up yet? You decide what you want included in the directory.
Having access to this directory is a great way for you to stay connected with other school families. It also is the way that you would get contact information for your child’s classmates, including information you would need for sending out birthday invitations via email or U.S. mail. (Please remember that unless your child is inviting the entire class, party invitations may not be distributed at school.)
Another important reason you may want to be included in the directory is to give your child the opportunity to be invited to birthday parties or other gatherings with classmates, since neither the teachers nor the office staff is able to share contact information with you. Hopefully you have already signed up for the family directory. If you have not, please take a few minutes to do so.

We are excited to announce that all PTO events are on for the year! All events have leaders. No events will be cancelled. Thank you to everyone that came forward.
The CBBQ has one final leader spot. Dining room. It’s easy and a great way to meet people!
CBBQ Volunteer Opportunity: Dining Room Chair(s)
It's time to start thinking about April's CBBQ! We are in need of a couple of people to take on the role of Dining Room Chair. This is one of the easiest roles to take on with very little time commitment. The main duties of the Dining Room Chair is to set up the dining room the Friday before the CBBQ, keep it clean the day of the event, stock the milk bins, take out garage, make coffee and clean up after the event. Total time commitment is just attending the CBBQ chair meetings (once a month starting in January), attend Friday night set up and be at the CBBQ all day on Sunday. AND.... The former dining room chair is now the overall CBBQ Event Chair! So, you will have someone on-hand every step of the way to support you! If interested in this role, please respond below or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
