Lord God almighty, bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health. May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome Back to Term 3
It has been so lovely to see everyone back at school this week with so many smiles and joyful cheers in seeing friends again. Don't those holidays just fly by! The break from school routines really do provide us a welcomed opportunity to slow down, spend time with our loved ones and isn't it great not having to prepare lunchboxes and iron uniforms! We hope all students have had a wonderful rest and are now ready to hit the ground running into a busy and productive Term 3!

World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly
On July 24, the Church celebrates the second World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Established by Pope Francis in January 2021, the observance is celebrated each year on the fourth Sunday of July, coinciding with the feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s parents and Jesus’ grandparents, Sts. Joachim and Anne.
The theme for this year’s World Day is “In old age they will still bear fruit” (Psalm 92:15) and emphasises how grandparents and the elderly are a value and a gift for our community. In his message for the second World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly, Pope Francis writes: "Old age is no time to give up and lower the sails, but a season of enduring fruitfulness: a new mission awaits us and bids us look to the future."
"The World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly is an opportunity to proclaim once more, with joy, that the Church wants to celebrate together with all those whom the Lord – in the words of the Bible – has “filled with days”. Let us celebrate it together! I ask you to make this Day known in your parishes and communities; to seek out those elderly persons who feel most alone, at home or in residences where they live. Let us make sure that no one feels alone on this day. Expecting a visit can transform those days when we think we have nothing to look forward to; from an initial encounter, a new friendship can emerge. Visiting the elderly who live alone is a work of mercy in our time!"

We would like to thank all the grandparents in our community for the role you play in our students' lives and how this helps our mission to educate the whole child here at St Luke's Catholic Primary.
COVID-19 High Caseload Mask Wearing
As Premier Mark McGowan has recently communicated, WA is seeing an increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in the community due to the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants. While the Chief Health Officer has said that this should not be cause for alarm, we are being encouraged not to become complacent in taking preventative measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, including the wearing of masks.
Masks are required to be worn for people aged 12 years and older in the following settings:
• Aboriginal health services;
• Dental and optical health clinics;
• Hospitals, aged care and disability care facilities;
• Public and passenger transport, including school buses;
Masks are also encouraged where physical distancing is not possible. Please encourage your child to wear a mask to school if they are unable to physically distance from others. Masks are an effective measure to lessen the risk of both spreading and becoming infected with COVID-19.
Please continue to register your child’s COVID-19 results via the CEWA Self-Reporting Portal and any positive COVID-19 RAT results on the WA Health RAT Register, as is required by the WA Government.
