Cullman City Schools
The Week in Review - January 31, 2020
State School Board Visits
We were proud to have our State School Board Representative, Dr. Cynthia McCarty, at CHS today. Mrs. Tankersley was able to share about our Health Science program and demonstrate how students learn in the lab setting before clinical internships.
School Board Recognized at Luncheon
CHS recently hosted a School Board Appreciation Luncheon to thank our School Board members for their tireless work for CCS. CHS Food and Consumer Science students provided hospitality service during the event. The Board was also treated to music, dance and art from the CHS Fine Arts Department.
Also, at the CCS Board Meeting this week the Board Members were greeted by these amazing posters from CCPS expressing thanks for everything that is done for our schools.
Technician Takes Time to Teach
CCS computer technicians are typically in the classroom to install new technology or solve an issue that has developed. Recently, technician Chris Kennedy spent some time teaching instead. He shared with WES students in the gifted class how to design in Tinkercad and create their work using a Makerbot printer!
EES Archers Begin with a Win
The EES Archery team recently won first place in the Winter Warm-up Tournament. The archery program at EES has had great success since its inception. Best of luck this year as well!
Make Your Own Snow
The most common weather we've seen in Alabama recently has been rain. So, these CCPS students found a way to have snow despite the rain. They made it themselves. Actually, this fun snow experiment was connected with a recent read aloud book and daily writing!
The Great Gatsby Comes to Life
CHS students recently turned Tillman into a grand hall for celebrating in style just as if it was the summer of 1922. This event was such a wonderful experience for our students! What an outstanding culminating project to celebrate the study of The Great Gatsby!
CMS Scholars
Cullman Middle School's Scholars Bowl team competed last weekend in the district level tournament. They won four out of five rounds. These students qualified to compete in the state level tournament. Congratulations!
Collection Counting
These CCPS Lions are working on counting collections to build numeracy.
Map It Out
These EES students recently created some fabulous 3D maps as part of their mountain range research project.
McWane Center Fun
WES third graders recently made a trip to the McWane Center. It was a great experience for everyone. A special thanks goes out to all of the parents and grandparents willing to chaperone our trip to McWane Center! Thank you!
CMS Yearbook Deadline
Today is the last day to order your CMS yearbook! Don't let the deadline pass you by!
CHS Career Fair
2020-2021 Course Selection Fair was a success! This week, students toured campus, asked questions, and met with teachers and counselors about the many programs offered at CHS. Students were able to make good decisions about class selections to help them reach their post-secondary goals.
