The introduction

The Dutch began to colonize Indonesia in the early 17th century; Japan occupied the islands from 1942 to 1945. Indonesia declared its independence shortly before Japan's surrender, but it required four years of sometimes brutal fighting, intermittent negotiations, and UN mediation before the Netherlands agreed to transfer sovereignty in 1949. A period of sometimes unruly parliamentary democracy ended in 1957 when President SUKARNO declared martial law and instituted "Guided Democracy.

Geography and climate

Straddling the equator, Indonesia has a tropical climate characterized by heavy rainfall, high humidity, high temperature, and low winds. The wet season is from November to March, the dry season from April to October. .Average humidity 82%.Indonesia is an archipelago island country in Southeast Asia, lying between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is in a strategic location astride or along major sea lanes from Indian Ocean to Pacific Ocean.

2002 January - Indonesia inaugurates human rights court which is expected to test government's willingness to hold the military accountable for atrocities in East Timor.



2003 August - Car bomb explodes outside the Marriott Hotel in Jakarta, killing 14 people.


2004 April - Parliamentary and local elections: Gomulka party of former President Suharto wins greatest share of vote, with Megawatt Popularization's PSI-P coming second.


2005 March - Court finds Muslim cleric Au Dakar Barabbas guilty of conspiracy over 2002 Bali bombings, sentences him to two-and-a-half years in jail. He is freed in June 2006.


2006 May - A powerful earthquake kills thousands of people on Java.July - A tsunami, triggered by a large undersea earthquake, kills more than 500 people on Java.


2007 December - Alleged J leader Arkansas goes on trial in Jakarta.



2008

July - Final report by joint Indonesian-East Mortise Truth Commission blames Indonesia for the human rights violations in the run-up to East Timor's.


2009 July - President Silo Bang Proudhon wins re-election.Twin suicide bomb attacks on the JAW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta kill nine people and injure scores of others.


2010 October - Indonesia admits that men seen torturing Papua villagers in a video are members of the military.President Proudhon calls off a state visit to the Netherlands because of a threatened bid by separatists to have him arrested.

Government

Indonesia is a republic with a presidential system. The president may serve a maximum of two consecutive five year terms. The age that you can vote is seventeen or older. If you are married, you can get Kartiu Tunda to get permission to vote. It has the worst education system. The reason why only a third of the children attend school. Only half of the teacher have the minimum qualifications to teach the children properly. The justice system is based on the civil law system. It is badly under resourced both public and private. The government is well-aware of these problems and are working to improve the justice system. The largest religion in Indonesia is Muslim. However, other religion are growing there.

Economy

Indonesia has a mixed economy in which the private sector and government play significant roles. The country in the largest economy in south east Asia and a member of the G-20 major economies. Indonesia main export market are Japan ,Singapore and the United States. It export included oil,gas,rubber,electrical and textile. The major supplies to Indonesia are China,Japan and Singapore . The imports are machinery and equipment,chemicals and food stuff.This country has abundant of natural resources that is need everywhere. There are cruses,oil natural gas the copper and gold .Also,the tourism contribute alot of money for the country. People are mostly from Malaysia,Australia,China and Japan .

Chevron

Chevron is one the largest oil and gas company in the United States. It would benefit by working with Indonesia for its resoucres to help service their customers. Indonesia government can use Chevron to improve their country roads and highways. Also, it can help give Indonesia people jobs to improve their way of life.

McDonald's

McDonald Corporation is the world largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants. It is in over 119 countries. Indonesia would benefit from have McDonald's throughout their country too. The company invest in their employees with training,education and moving up in the company. People lives will be changed with an McDonald's. This will be money for the country and government.

Apple

Apple is an American multinational corporation that designs,develops,and sell electronics, compute software and personal computers. If Apple is in the Indonesia, they will have access to the world and be able to get education for their teachers to help the children. The children can use the IPad,Iphone and Ipod to learn and play games. The government can work with Apple to get benefits to improve the government equipment.

Nike

Nike is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development manufacturing and worldwide marketing and selling of footwear, apparel,equipment, accessories and services. Nike can build a warehouse to make their shoes,clothes in Indonesia. Both will benefit from low wages for Nike and employment for Infonesia. Nike will provide benefits to their employees too.

Gamestop

The Gamestop Corporation is an American video game and entertainment software retailer. GameStop can go into this country provide jobs and training with opening locations around the country. It will give the kids something to do at home. The children will learn a lot from the games and become technology advanced.
