5-Year Master Facilities Plan takes center stage at upcoming Germantown Board of Education

Germantown Board of Education October Business Meeting
Among many agenda items, the board will adopt a calendar for the 22-23 school year, recognition of the good work of Dr. Abigail Simone, and the accomplishments of state championship winner Sophie Christopher.
All of our Germantown Board of Education Meetings are held in person in our GMSD Board/Community Room. Meetings are also live-streamed on our GMSD Youtube Channel.

Q1 Report Cards for grades 4-12 will be available on Skyward Family Access beginning Wednesday. Please see below if you need help accessing them.

Houston High Student Government Association will be offering Trunk or Treat
SGA is going to host the GMSD Trunk of Treat at Houston High School parking lot on Monday, October 31, from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. This is a free, community-service offering to all GMSD families! Engage in games and grab some candy before you hit the streets on Oct. 31.
Guest speakers bring real-world experiences to GMSD students
It’s been an incredible week for guest speakers and community support in the schools; FedEx who hosted their Express Experience Virtual Tour garnered over 400 interested CTE students at Houston High School. 12 of our students participating in leadership germantown’s future leaders programs worked with local business leaders to create and market ideas and products this week. Mayor Mike Palozzolo made an appearance at HMS Leads to discuss local government and Congressman David Kustoff later made an appearance to talk with honors students about leadership. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with our students. It’s an important facet of our strategic plan to bring real-world experiences, connections, and partnerships to our students.
Houston Student crowned International Miss Tennessee Jr. Teen
Addison Abney, a freshman at HHS, competed in the Royal International Miss Tennessee Jr. Teen pageant this past Saturday night, October 22 in Paris, TN and won! She will represent Tennessee in Orlando in July 2023 and compete against Jr. Teens from all over the world.

GMSD schools provide parade sendoffs for cross country teams
The Tennessee State Elementary and Middle School Cross Country Championship took place on Saturday, October 22 in Knoxville. Each and every GMSD schools sent individuals or teamsWe wish all of our runners luck and success. Creative Crosswalk Project brings local artists back to Houston High
Our creative crosswalk collaboration continues as the guest artists joined our AP art classes to provide feedback on their design drafts. We can’t wait to share those with the community for feedback next month.
