Spellography for Teachers: How English Spelling Works

Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS), is professional development for educators responsible for improving K-12 instruction in reading, writing, and spelling.
Module 3: Spellography for Teachers: How English Spelling Works – Explores the structure and history of English spelling from several angles: historical layers in English orthography; phoneme-grapheme correspondences; letter patterns in orthography, including syllable types; orthographic rules; and meaningful word parts (morphemes). The module clarifies differences between syllables and morphemes and between irregular and high-frequency words.
Educators who work for LEAs in the AIU3 region will have priority registration
- There is no cost for this training. Workbooks will be provided free of charge for Educators within the AIU3 School Districts and Charters.
- Please register by the Deadline (January 12, 2021) in order to receive your workbook on time.
- ACT 48 hours available
- Maximum Participants: 30
* Participation in Module 1 is a prerequisite for Module 3.
Target Audience: K-5 General Education Teacher, K-12 Special Education Teachers, Reading Specialists, Interventionists, ESL Teachers, educators and administrators interested in literacy.
All sessions will be held synchronously utilizing the Zoom platform.
This is a 2 day session.
