End of Year Tasks!
As the end of the school year quickly approaches, we ask families to carefully check around your home (and car) for any curriculum materials that belong to Linden, the Library or the District. We must have everything back so we can accurately plan for the upcoming school year.
We appreciate your help with this very important task.

Staying Safe in the Sun
The majority of sun exposure occurs before age 18 and skin cancer can take 20 years or more to develop. Whether your sun bathing days are behind you or you still spend time pursuing the perfect tan, you should be concerned about skin cancer.
Remember, the sun's UV rays can reflect off water, sand, concrete, and snow, and can reach below the water's surface. Certain types of UV light penetrate fog and clouds, so it's possible to get sunburn even on overcast days.
- Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible during the peak sun hours, generally 10 AM to 3 PM, or seek shade during this part of day.
- Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen - with an SPF of at least 30 - containing both UVA and UVB protection. Look for ingredients like Parasol 1789 or titanium dioxide on the label.
- Reapply sunscreen frequently, at least every two hours when outdoors, especially if you perspire or you've been swimming.
- Wear lip balm with an SPF 15 or higher.
- Wear a hat and other protective clothing while in the sun. Tightly woven fibers and darker clothing generally provide more protection.
- Wear UV protective sunglasses.

Student Absences
In-Person Absences: Students will be marked absent if they are not in school that day. If the student should be physically present but is participating virtually due to COVID related concerns, the teacher will mark the attendance as "Participating Virtually". This will give the student credit for attendance.
Online Absences: If a student does not attend class, the student will be marked absent until we receive the communication from parents. Note: If a student logs-in initially, but leaves the call or does not engage, the comment "Virtually Cut" will be added to the comments section.
Appointments: If a student has to leave for an appointment, please email their teacher and 'cc Cyndi Faville as well.
Please contact Cindy Faville in the Linden Main office at 267-893-4402 or email at cfaville@cbsd.org with any questions.
