Staff Scrip - Deadline Extended!

The holidays are a great time to say “Thank You” to all of the teachers and staff that make Rose Glen a wonderful school for our children. The Staff Scrip Holiday Gift Card Program has been so well received these last several years, we are once again offering this opportunity.

Here’s how it works:

You voluntarily make any monetary gift to the teachers/staff members of your choice on behalf of your child/family. Your gift is then combined with all the other gifts for that particular staff member, and thus “snowballed” into a larger monetary amount to purchase a Scrip Gift Card of that staff members choice. The Scrip Gift Cards will be given to the staff members just before holiday break.

To give a gift from your child(ren)/family, please complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the attached form listing the gift amount by the staff member you are choosing to give a gift. (NOTE: please make sure amounts are in $1 increments with a minimum of $1 per recipient).
  2. Send the total amount of money and the completed form in a sealed envelope to school addressed “Staff Scrip”, no later than Tuesday, November 26th
  3. Please make checks payable to Rose Glen PTO, and double check that all the amounts add up to the Total Gift Amount you listed on the attached form.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact: Megan Peterson at megan@megndale.com

Thank you all for your continued support, and have a wonderful holiday season!

First Grade Friendsgiving Food Drive

Dear Rose Glen Families,

This school year, first-grade students have been learning about the value of community and the different roles community members have. They have also been working hard to practice their Rose Glen “Be Statements” and spread kindness whenever and wherever they can.

This holiday season, first graders have decided to give back to their community by hosting the 1st Annual First-Grade Friendsgiving Food Drive! Between now and Friday, December 6th, please have your student(s) bring in any non-perishable food items from the wish list below. These items will be given back to our community through a donation to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County. Please make sure that all donations are not past their expiration date.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to first-grade teacher Mrs. Shumaker at sshumaker@waukesha.k12.wi.us. Thanks for helping first-graders give back to their community this holiday season!

Bus Passes

If you are requesting a bus pass for your child to go to another student's home after school, a note is required. These notes are forwarded to the office for processing, so please include your child's first and last name, teacher, date needed, and who they will be riding home with. Sometimes note come up to the office with only first names and then the office has to interrupt a classroom to get more information. If you know the bus number of the other student's bus, please include, otherwise we can look it up.

First Lego League Update

Rose Glen's two FIRST LEGO League teams competed at the Mukwonago Regional tournament on Saturday. They were judged on their Innovation Project presentation, robot design and programming, and core values knowledge and application in the morning, and competed in the robot games in the afternoon. The City Kitties in their rookie year won the presentation award for their great game show theme presentation. The Mistake Makers placed in the top 5 of 39 teams for robot game score and were nominated for the research award for their research on accessible playgrounds. Both teams made us so proud!

Lost and Found

If your children are missing coats, sweatshirts, water bottles or lunch boxes, please have them check the Lost and Found. Parents can stop in and look for any lost items any time they realize an item is missing. Of course, having names on items helps us be able to return them quicker to the owner. Any remaining items will be donated at the end of the month.

PTO News

It includes not only an explanation of what the program is and how it is used in school, but some great valuable resources for parents as well. Safe Arrival Attendance System

To enhance the existing absence reporting procedure, the School District of Waukesha introduced a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called "SafeArrival" which started at Rose Glen in October of 2018. This system works in conjunction with our district messenging system (School Messenger). It reduces the time it takes to verify student attendance, makes it easier for you to report your child’s absence and makes it easier for staff to respond to unexplained student absences. We would love to have all of our families using this system by the start of school.

Pre-Excused Absences: If you know your child is going to be absent and you want to report that before the student is marked absent in school, Safe Arrival provides three convenient methods:

1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.com). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.

2. Use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.

3. Call the toll-free number 1-866-490-7371 to report an absence using the automated phone system. These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.

Future absences can be reported at any time.

Post-Excused Absences: If you were not able to report your child’s absence in advance you will be notified by the SchoolMessenger system if your child is marked absent.

You are notified of a reported absence within minutes of the reported absence.

The School Messenger app or the website will allow families to customize where they want to receive their notifications and allow them to excuse the absence right from the notification.

If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.

Additional assistance can be found on the District's Safe Arrival Support Page:
