Save the Date: August 12, 2019 Institute Day

Please save the date for an all-staff event on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 from 8-10 a.m. in the Harper College gymnasium. Incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laurie Heinz will address staff during this event, followed by a presentation from DeEtta Jones on diversity, inclusion and equity in schools.

All staff scheduled to work on this date are required to attend. Staff members not scheduled to work Aug. 12 are invited to attend on a voluntary basis.

We trust it will be an inspiring and meaningful morning that will set the tone for the 2019-20 school year. More specific information will be shared as the event nears regarding parking and logistics. We look forward to seeing you there!

Infinite Campus Update

Throughout the course of the 2018-2019 school year, behind-the-scenes technical work has been done by staff members to prepare to launch Infinite Campus across our schools. Starting with the online registration feature for our incoming kindergarten and early childhood students, Infinite Campus has been in use since the middle of this school year, mainly by school secretaries. We are excited to begin expanding professional development with Infinite Campus at this time.

Infinite Campus will be implemented in place of Tyler SIS during our summer school programs this June. We will be providing training to all summer school teachers on logging in, looking up student information, and taking attendance as part of their summer school Professional Development in early June. As we move to using Infinite Campus for completing and maintaining IEPs and 504s, we look forward to optional, paid professional development sessions for teachers during the second half of July. Please note, this information will become part of new teacher orientation for all incoming teaching staff.

This year, all teachers will benefit from a hands-on orientation to Infinite Campus on Aug. 12 and 13 that includes being able to login, look-up student information, and take attendance. Our goal is to make use of Infinite Campus for teachers as efficient as possible.

Additionally, we are pleased to offer another paid, voluntary learning and leadership opportunity for teachers this summer to be a “Campus Ambassador." Campus Ambassadors will participate in two half-day workshops to learn about the features of Campus Instruction in detail. Campus Ambassadors will also help us to consider and create the best ways of offering professional support to our colleagues using Infinite Campus district-wide. We will be offering these paid, voluntary sessions multiple times during the summer. To apply to be a Campus Ambassador, please complete this short form by Monday, May 13, 2019.

We look forward to providing continued updates on our implementation of Infinite Campus and continued training on an ongoing basis as we move forward.
