PRIDE
Gilgamesh and Odysseus
Heroes and Their Pride
It seems as though every character that is seen has a hero also has a down side, for most that is pride.
1) "He (god) has given you unexampled supremacy over the people, victory in battle......"
This is a quote given about Gilgamesh. It is only natural for a sense of pride to kick in when one is being told that that will rule people and have victory over everything.
2) "But all the gods pitied him except Poseidon; he remained relentlessly angry with godlike Odysseus...."
Odysseus unlike Gilgamesh was completely human. He did however have consistent interaction with the gods and goddess. Poseidon may have been a little bitter towards Odysseus, but it is obvious that Odysseus acted as though he was a god and took pride in his relationship with the gods.
3) "I am Gilgamesh, I killed the Guardian!I destroyed Humbaba who lived in the Cedar Forest,I slew lions in the mountain passes!I grappled with the Bull that came down from heaven, and killed him."
Again it is seen here with Gilgamesh that he is being prideful in the fact it was with the help of Enkidu they were able to defeat Humbaba. It seems as though he wanted praise for this act but instead he ends up losing a loved one.

Gilgamesh
The brave and fearless worrier with prideful behaviors.
The Effects of Pride
Gilgamesh and Odysseus both experience the downside of pride. Gilgamesh losses his best friend in the entire world Enkidu and Odysseus faces the possibility of losing his wife, son and kingdom.
Odysseus
Another example of a great warrior who used his honorable achieves to boost his pridefully acts.
