The Scientific Revolution
WITH YA HOMEBOY JAY ROACH BOOOOIIIIIIIIIIII
What is this!?
The Scientific Revolution is more of a time than a specific event. It's estimated to have start ~1543 with Nicolaus Copernicus's, "De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres)." This paper detailed a different view on the orbit of the planets, a Heliocentric model(where the planets revolve around the Sun). The previous model, geocentric, stated that the Earth was the center of the universe, which was constituted and supported by the Church. This wasn't because it stated it in the Bible. This was a belief held by the Catholic Church.
But, how does this affect us now?
This is easier than it seems!
1. Scientists required proof before accepting theories as facts.
2. They used more experiments to determine how the world worked.
3. They relied more on observation, rather than taking someones word for it. They sought after proving it more than once, and re-documenting.
4. They relied more on clear evidence rather than a blurred line approach.

But, what was the world like BEFORE this???
Well, the time before then was known as the "Middle Ages." This is a time when Catholicism relied more on religion to tell them how the world worked, rather than noticing the world around them. Now, this isn't to say that people didn't observe, but people were to afraid to get their work published! They thought that the Church might try to hinder them, and maybe even excommunicate them! Now, this isn't as big a deal nowadays, but back then(~13th century), it was everything! You would be looked down upon, and ridiculed! People believed that the Earth was the center universe, which we now know to be false.
