Welcome to "The Raider Lead" Newsletter
A Message from the Principal
Hello, Raider Family,
Welcome to the March edition of the Raider Lead school newsletter! We will be studying Habit 7, Sharpen the Saw, this month. This is the habit of balance and renewal, and as we approach the spring season it is the perfect time to remind ourselves how important it is to continally renew and replenish ourselves!
We are continuing our leadership journey and are excited to introduce to you our HPEM Student Lighthouse Team! They have already completed several projects that you will see below and are busy planning our school Leadership Day, which will take place on 8th. We will be sharing more specific details regarding this event closer to that time. You can see all of our monthly activities below in the highlights section. Our March Home Habit Huddle will give you information and activities to learn more about Habit 7 as a family.
Please continue to remember and encourage our students, families, staff, and community as we partner together to be amazing Raiders!
Raiders always lead the way!

These assessments are crucially important data sources for us. They help us analyze student growth gains for the year and develop "next steps" for students and our school to continue to grow. Please also check out the resources below to help your students prepare!

Raider RN Report
Parents,
We havce new Covid updates:
We currently have no active cases of Covid in the district!!!! New guidance from DHEC states if we continue to have less than 10% for two consecutive weeks we can discontinue all quarantine, test to stay and mask mandates for close contacts. We will also discontinue all contact tracing for exposures. With this being said we will still follow SC DHEC School exclusion list for all symptoms and disease processes. This means if your student has COVID like symptoms they will be excluded until they meet the return guidelines ( including needing a COVID test to return). We will continue testing here at the school Monday -Friday 8:30 to 10:00 as needed during school with permission. I have attached a school exclusion list. Please still notify us with any positive cases with students or in your household.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Stay healthy, Raiders!

HPEM Family Leadership Feature: The Moore Family!
The Moore family would like to share how they are using Habit 6! I have a daughter who is 3 and a son who is 7. We synergize, or use team work, when we tidy up our home. Each one of us does a job that we are the “best” at or capable of doing. It gives us something to do together, and we get it done more quickly.
Complete the form below to submit your family for the Family Leadership Feature!

What is working memory?
- Working memory refers to how we hold on to and work with information stored in short-term memory.
- Kids use working memory to learn and follow directions.
- Working-memory boosters can be built into your child’s daily life.
Does your child have a hard time keeping one bit of information in mind while she/he’s doing something else? For example, if she/he’s helping make spaghetti and receives a text or SnapChat message, does she/he forget she/he needs to go back and keep stirring the sauce? If she/he often has trouble with such tasks, she/he might have working memory issues.
Working memory refers to the manipulation of information that short-term memory stores. (In the past, the term “working memory” was used interchangeably with the term “short-term memory.”) It’s a skill kids use to learn. It’s needed for tasks like following multi-step directions or solving a math problem in your head.
You can help your child improve this executive function by building some working memory boosters into her/his daily life. These activities can be found on the following website:
