News You Can Use for February 10, 2023

A Message from our Interim Principal...

Hello Larson families,

First, I must thank you for all the positive comments I have received while taking on this role. You've made this time of transition a smooth one.

Second, I appreciate the patience you have shown with our staff during drop off and pick up. The staff, as well as you, have been wonderful at keeping the traffic moving. Hopefully, the bus issues will be resolved soon.

Parent/Teacher conferences are right around the corner. They are being held on Friday, February 24th. Expect to hear from your child’s teacher next week.

Please let me know if I can help in anyway. In the meantime, enjoy Valentine’s Day and National Random Acts of Kindness Week.

Parent/Teacher Conferences on Friday, February 24th

Parent/Teacher Conferences are being held on Friday, February 24th. There will be NO SCHOOL for students on this day. Be on the look-out for information from your student's teacher regarding your conference date and time.

A Great Big Thank You to Our Parents!

We realize what a hardship the no bus situation has been. We are hoping that there is an end in sight and bus service will be restored to all schools soon. Thank you to parents of regular bus riders for picking up between 4-4:15pm. This allows regular pick-up traffic to clear the lot and helps prevent traffic congestion. Please remember to watch your speed (10 miles per hour in our parking lot) and watch for people in the crosswalk.

Larson families are AWESOME and have helped make drop off and pick up a success!

Mental Health Tip for February:

As winter continues, cabin fever may have set in and our children (and maybe us too!) may be feeling a little restless. This can lead to not focusing on homework or chores, often ending in frustration for both the parent and the child. If this happens, one option to reset is to do some enthusiastic breathing! Don’t worry – You don’t have to feel enthusiastic before you do this. See the script below and click on the video link below that demonstrates how to do it if you or your kiddo need a third person to narrate. Essentially, you will reach your arms over your head as you breathe in through your nose, make fists, and pull the arms down quickly as you exhale. It may be more interesting to include a ball, stuffed animal, or crumpled up paper after they get the hang of it. Let them hold the ball above their head, toss it to you, and you toss it back, so they have to catch it after they bring down their arms. Making it a game can bring in some fun! This pause can help to reset and refocus for both parent and child.
