TEA Performance Reporting Resources: Outcome Bonus v. CCMR Accountability
New Guidance on CTE Representation in ARD Meetings
Ms. Joslyn Harmon, Transition Services Supervisor, within Dallas ISD Special Education Department, provided the following update from Region 10 on CTE Representation at ARD Meetings:
"Region 10 recognizes comments from Justin Porter, TEA Representative, that the ARD meeting CTE Representative can be anyone that can speak to CTE programing in the district". Transition Services has identified the following individuals roles as approved to represent CTE.
Approved CTE Representatives
CTE Teacher
Administrator
Counselor
Vocational Compliance Teacher (VCT)
Career Institute Teacher (General Education or Special Education)
Multiple Careers Magnet Center Teacher
Please note that the CTE Representative cannot have dual roles. Therefore, whomever is representing CTE cannot represent another ARD role. In addition, the CTE Representative needs to be a participating member in the ARD meeting and present information on CTE programs. If you have any questions contact Ms. Harmon in the Special Education Department.

School of Business Management at Yvonne Ewell Townview Magnet Center- 2020-21 DECA District 11 Vice President - Dhruv Nanda
Kevin Miles, Townview SBM DECA Advisor, is proud to celebrate and share the accomplishments of Dhruv Nanda. Dhruv Nanda is in his third year as a DECA member. He currently serves as the Townview DECA President and District 11 DECA Vice President while pursuing a state officer position for the 2021-2022 school year.
During the 2019-20 school year, Dhurv competed in the Business Finance Series event, advancing in district, state, and earning a spot to compete at the International Career Development Conference as the 4th student competitor to advance in 5 years. He secured the second most votes during 2019-20 officer elections to serve this year as District 11 Vice President of Campaigns and Media. His goal is to use the election process experience to help run for Texas DECA State Officer this academic year.
As a District 11 Vice President, Dhruv continues to work towards ways to maintain student engagement and chapter membership for District 11 as well as our local DECA Chapter. Additionally, he works directly with state officers and regional directors to enhance the overall experience of existing and incoming DECA members. As our President of Townview DECA, Dhruv consistently leads our local chapter meetings. Dhruv drives the overall direction of the chapter and ensures that all Townview DECA members have the resources they need to succeed. In addition to leading the overall chapter, Dhruv spends additional time assisting students in preparation for all of the various competitions associated with DECA
Dhruv’s most recent accomplishments came in November, when both his Finance and Marketing Communications case study projects were recognized as one the Top Case Study Scenarios submitted to the State of Texas in each category. Additionally, out of hundreds of the elitist projects submitted throughout the state of Texas, Dhruv’s project placed third overall in the Marketing Communications case study category. Congratulations Dhruv! Dallas ISD appreciate your many accomplishments. As a district, as a school, and as a local chapter, we are excited for you, and we look forward to assisting you with your future endeavors

Creativity in the Pandemic
When life gives you lemons…well okay, we did not exactly get lemons. But one of the greatest gifts of adversity is creation; and that is what Ms. Mast students have done in this trying time. The students had to come up with solutions that included using their phones as their cameras and photo apps for their software.
Ms. Mast always tells them that she has learned far more from her mistakes and failures than things that have come easily, especially in photography. She seldom made the same mistake twice in photo school, and some of her greatest photographs have come as “happy accidents” in exposure or development. The same can be true with the digital capture and technology influenced products.
The collective students recently completed an assignment in which they created a fashion photo shoot through FaceTime, Zoom or Google Meets. They worked with partners in order to art direct; scout locations; coordinate props and styling; and ultimately shoot the images remotely through one of the face to face apps.
At first they were not happy at the thought of not having control over the quality of their captures, but when they were shown examples of industry standard work that was being done that way from a photographer based in Italy, and how he used the poor quality to add texture and a rawness to his captures, they became intrigued and they dug right in.
Their results were stunning. Our kiddos are resilient and thrive given the opportunity and Ms. Mast considers herself lucky to be able to have their images burned in her teacher brain.
