2nd Grade News - Friday, September 16th
Monday is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Our students are working so hard this year, not only with their academics, but also with our month-long fundraising effort, "Coins for a Cure."
Monday, September 19, is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day." To infuse some fun into our school day and help support our fundraising efforts, any student or faculty member who brings a $5 donation to support our cancer research fundraiser on Monday, September 19, will earn a fun pirate eye patch. Participating students are also invited to dress like a pirate on Monday. (No fake weapons allowed, please.)
2nd Grade Social Studies Pirate Fun!
2nd Grade is starting our new Social Studies unit on MAPS and DIRECTIONS on Monday..... SHHHHHH! The 2nd grade teachers have a fun surprise in store for our students. We would LOVE to see all of our 2nd graders with a pirate patch or costume to help us get excited during our unit introduction and Monday fun pirate-themed map and cardinal directions activities.

Coins for a CURE
Way to go, 2nd grade!
Our class is doing an amazing job raising money for this special cause. I am so proud of my 2nd graders :) Our 2nd graders are in the lead for raising the most amount of money. This shows what HUGE hearts these students have!
I love hearing about all of the creative ways our students are raising money. I have seen...
- Car washes
- Lemonade and cookie stands
- Visiting Mom and Dad's work
and so much more!

Home Visit Program
Home visits are a special program offered by FSAPS to help build the parent, student, and teacher relationship. This is an opportunity for your child's teachers to visit and get a closer look at their life at home. This helps a teacher to know more about each of his/her students, and build a strong relationship between school and family. These are optional, but if you would be interested in planning a home visit for your child, please see the information below.
How Can You Schedule a Home Visit?
This process is very simple. Please send an e-mail to our home visit coordinator, Mrs. Unal, at junal@fultonscienceacademy.org. In that email, please provide three available dates for your child's home visit. We will get back to you to confirm a date. At least two teachers will be together for home visits; specific names/subjects will be dependent upon teacher availability.
For any questions you have about this program, please send an e-mail to junal@fultonscienceacademy.org.
Please note: the best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00pm, and during the weekends, except Sunday mornings.
