Number Sense November is right around the corner! A few years ago we got our feet wet with a schoolwide math concentration in November. Last year, we put it on hold due to COVID. This year we are moving ahead full force with a fun-filled November consisting of math activities, competitions, and giveaways. You will be receiving information soon outlining all the ways your Husky will be extra involved in math during November. Dare to be remarkable!

Fall on the Farm

Wow! We had a FANTASTIC Fall on the Farm today! Even though we thought the day would be a wash-out due to the rain, we were able to participate in many of the planned activities. A HUGE thank you to Angie Cryderman, the PTO, and our NJHS students, for planning, organizing, setting up, and taking down this awesome event! It's great to be a Husky!

Morning Traffic

We have had some near misses in the drop-off lanes in the morning. If you ARE NOT dropping off your Husky in the drop-off lanes, please exit at the west exit or the bypass lane parallel to the drop-off lanes. Please do not exit by driving through the drop-off lanes. Thank you.

Social Media

Schools around the nation, and certainly Holly Academy, are dealing with the impact and implications of students' dependence on social media. Our students take their social cues from what they see on social media sites. This is so troubling when so much of what they see is disrespectful and can be alarming in nature. PLEASE monitor your child's access to social media and put devices away at bedtime. Many of our students cannot stay awake in the morning because they have been on their devices long into the night. Others have anxiety around what they consider their inadequacy compared to what they observe on social media. Together, we can work toward healthy choices for our Huskies! Power of the Pack!

Husky Pride in Action

Since beginning to fundraise in 2019, Lucas and the Vetter family have since formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit (Vetter Family Organization) and have been able to raise funds for the purchase of seven LUCAS hands-free CPR devices. Originally focused in Livingston County, Lucas successfully placed at least one unit into every Fire Department that expressed need. Lucas has now set his sights closer to home and has begun fundraising for the Village of Holly Fire Department. Through public events and private donations, Lucas and his family hope to be able to provide the Village with its very own LUCAS devices before the end of the year. Dare to be remarkable!

Power Up

Here is an overview of a few of our special programs you may hear your child or their teacher talk about:

Math Power Up:

All students in second, third, fourth, and fifth grade receive a math intervention block called "Math Power Up". Highlights of this specialized program include:

  • 25 minutes, 5 days per week
  • Most students remain in their homeroom class
  • STAR Math scores designate an individualized learning path on Freckle to address areas of weakness
  • Interventionists push into each homeroom class to collaborate with teachers and reteach skills and monitor student progress while working on the Freckle program

Reading Power Up:

All students in kindergarten, first and second grade receive a reading intervention block called “Power Up”. Highlights of this specialized program include:

· 30 minutes, 4 days per week

· All students in a grade level are grouped according to reading ability

· Each group meets in a special location and receives targeted reading instruction at their reading level, by a teacher or interventionist

· Students at all ability levels (low, average, and high) receive differentiated reading instruction

Mrs. Craven (craventina@hollyacademy.org) is happy to answer any questions about our Response to Intervention (RTI)/MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports program).

November Breakfast/Lunch Order Information

Holly Academy Families,

The breakfast and lunch order form for November has been completed. All orders must be placed by 10:00am on Friday, October 22nd. At that time the link to the form will no longer be available.

Due to supply chain issues, menu items are subject to change.

All pizza orders for additional slices that were ordered for October have been reconciled. Emails were sent to families if a balance is owed. If you have a balance due and have not paid this by the time the November orders are due, those students will only be eligible for 1 slice of pizza for the month of November.

Step 1:

Please use the link below to place your breakfast and lunch orders through the end of November. A separate form will need to be completed for each child. If a form is completed for a child more than once, we will use the first submission unless we receive communication from the parent/guardian that the first submission should be voided for their child. Once you submit your form you will receive an email that shows all of your selections. The sender of this email will show as Google Forms. Please check your spam folder.

November Breakfast and Lunch Order Form

You must make a selection for every meal. You will have multiple choice options for each day.

Step 2:

If you choose additional slices of pizza for your child(ren) you will need to make a separate payment on RevTrak (preferred method of payment) or send a check or money order to the school.

For those families that choose to pay via RevTrak, below is the link to the RevTrak account that we will be using for payments. You must pay for each child separately as these are tracked by homeroom teachers. If you are new to Holly Academy or have not used RevTrak in the past, you will need to follow the steps in RevTrak to create an account. New account set-up will be completed once you choose to checkout. Please do not pay under any other account in RevTrak other than Food Service.

Food Payment Link (RevTrak)

If you are paying via check/money order, you may pay for all students on one check or money order. Please make the check payable to HOLLY ACADEMY, label the envelope as Pizza Lunch and ensure that all student names and homerooms are listed on the memo line of the check or money order or provide a sheet stating this information.

All payments are due by Monday, November 1st.
