Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention month and the Antelope Valley High School District is on a mission to prevent suicide by reducing the stigma attached to talking about suicide. Over the next month, through our Google Classrooms, we will share information, videos, and resources related to suicide awareness and prevention. We encourage you to view these resources with your child, continue the conversation at home, helping to break the stigma of silence.
Please visit https://teenlineonline.org/parents/suicide for more resources on how to have these challenging conversations and how to better identify warning signs. Suicide is preventable; we are all key to prevention.

Attendance
Attendance has a direct correlation to student success. If you miss a high school class for an excusable reason, parents/guardians must call or email Mrs. Andrews to clear the absence: (661) 722-6509 / jandrews@avhsd.org and follow up with your teachers for assignments. Students should follow up directly with college instructors in the case of an absence. Although we are not on campus, we are still responsible for record keeping. Please make attending both your high school and college classes a priority!
Tutoring/Additional Supports
Remember, SOAR students have access to all AVC resources as well. For information on how to get connected with AVC's Learning Center for additional support, visit AVC's website.
