SGE Family Newsletter
For the Week of April 25 - April 29
Estimados Padres,
Gracias,
Mrs. O’Hair
Directora de la Escuela Elemental de Shady Grove

Action Requested - Parent Survey!
Dear Parents,
You as parents are children’s first and most important teacher, and you know your students best of all. Last week Mr. McBurnett wrote regarding a survey we would distribute to all staff, parents, and secondary students for the purpose of informing our strategic planning process in the fall. Please consider completing the anonymous survey by following the link below. Your investment of time and thoughtful responses will help us strengthen our District into the future.

Behind the scenes at SGE last week...
Shout out to our "Caught with Character" kiddos this week! Teachers had the following to say about these students:
-When he was delivering something to another teacher for me, he waited quietly upon entry in the teacher's classroom because he didn't want to interrupt her.
-He is always so kind and polite!
Commendable manners!
Academics + CHARACTER = Success
Spirit • Pride • Honor
We LOVE our Volunteers!
April 20th was Volunteer Appreciation Day! Shady Grove Elementary is proud to recognize Mrs. Celeste Rozacky as the SGE Volunteer of the Year! In addition to Mrs. Rozacky, we have a huge list of volunteers who have helped in various ways throughout the year. This job we do at SGE wouldn't be as fun or work as smoothly without YOU! Ongoing Reminders and Quick Links
Birthdays!
Is your child celebrating a birthday? Feel free to send individually wrapped birthday treats for your child's class. The teacher will serve them at an appropriate time according to each class's end-of-day schedule.
Please keep in mind the "individually wrapped" condition when planning the treat to send with your student. Individually wrapped treats minimize exposure to extra handling.
Car Line Reminders
-Are you parking on Harvey St. by the grove of trees to drop-off in the morning? If so, please walk your child to a staff member in the front of the building rather than sending him/her to walk alone. Please also avoid blocking residential driveways and bus traffic.
-No in-person pick-up after 3:00pm until the car line is finished. As we work to dismiss our students in a timely and orderly fashion, we must keep the front entry/exit doors uncrowded. As a result, parents needing to check their students out must do so before 3:00pm or after the car line is finished.
Other general reminders:
-Help us keep the line moving as quickly and safely as possible by staying in your car, seating your student on the right side of the vehicle, and giving goodbye hugs and kisses before the drop-off line!
-If adults need to exit the car for any reason (to walk student in, to help student unbuckle, etc), please park in a parking space and walk your child across the crosswalk.
