Longfellow's Back to School Night

Longfellow will be hosting a Back-to-School night on Wednesday, August 18th from 4:00-5:30 PM. Please join us to meet your student's teacher and bring school supplies prior to the first day. Families can enter through the front door along 5th Street.

Find Out Your Teacher!

Class lists will be posted on Friday August 13th after 3:00 PM! Families and students can find the lists posted in the north windows along 21st Street!

Kindergarten is Coming!

All registered kindergarten families should have or will be soon receiving information regarding their student's practice day! Keep in mind, practice days are for kindergarten students only and your student will be invited to attend on either Thursday the 19th, Friday the 20th, or Monday the 23rd.

There will be no school for kindergartners on Tuesday August 24th, which is when the kindergarten team will place students into their classes. Staff will call that day to let your know who your student's teacher will be!

The first official day of kindergarten is Wednesday August 25th!

Welcome to Kindergarten Mrs. Linda Farrell!

"Hi, I'm Linda Farrell and I am super excited to be at Longfellow this year. This year is my 25th year teaching and I finally have my kindergarten dream job! I've been married for 37 years, have two daughters and three grandbabies. I enjoy cooking and gardening and hanging out with my family."

Arrival & Dismissal Times

As the school year starts, please remember punctuality and attendance is a major key to your student's success!

Longfellow Razorbacks begin their day on the playground each morning. Students may arrive as early as 7:40 AM to begin their day. Please do not send students before this time. School begins promptly at 7:50 AM, and students arriving after 7:50 AM will be counted tardy.

Dismissal for kindergarten is 3:05 PM at the north-west door of the building along 5th Avenue. All other grades are dismissed at 3:15 PM. Students who walk will be released from the Library doors on the south west corner of the building. Students who are being picked up can be met along 21st Street.

Breakfast Information

All students are welcome to join us for breakfast daily at 7:20 AM. Students may arrive to the north east door along 21st Street (by the picnic tables) where staff will be waiting. Students will eat in the cafeteria and then join the morning meeting on the playground. Remember, breakfast and lunches are FREE to all SBPS students for the 2021-2022 school year!

Free Meals for All Students

Scottsbluff Public School District is pleased to announce free meals for all students will be extended through the 2021-2022 school year! It is extremely important that all households complete and return the Free and Reduced Meal Forms, a bright pink form that will be coming home on the first day of school. Even if you don't believe your family will qualify, please complete and return the form anyway. Thank you!

Bring Your Own Water Bottle!

Please send your student to school each day with a clean water bottle! We will be utilizing our bottle filling stations this year again!

Start of the Year Paperwork

On the first day of school, students will bring home a small packet of forms. Please make sure to return all of them the next day! The emergency card is especially important - please remember to write down all methods of contact including work phones and email address. Also make sure to list all persons authorized to pick up your student AND sign the back of the card!

Dress Code

Parents can refer to the handbook for the complete dress code standards: "Students are expected to adhere to standards of cleanliness, grooming, and dress that are compatible with the requirements of a good learning environment. The standards will be those generally acceptable to the community as appropriate in a school setting."

Please refrain from wearing:

-spaghetti straps

-flip flops

-crop tops

-extremely short shorts

-clothing displaying obscene material, profanity, or reference to prohibited conduct

Thank you!

Traffic Courtesy

Please remember to drive slowly around the Longfellow area, as we have many students who must cross busy streets to arrive at school! We are so thankful to have crossing guards assigned to us by the Scottsbluff Police Department, who arrive at approximately 7:00 AM in the morning and 3:00 PM in the afternoon.

Also remember, when dropping students off along 21st Street, this is a "Drop and Go" zone. Please do not park and exit your vehicle in the mornings when other parents are also trying to drop off their children in a timely manner.

Please respect the cones and do not drive around them! These are strategically placed for the safety of our students and staff!

Let's Celebrate Birthdays!

Families are welcome to send birthday treats with their student to celebrate their birthday! You can check with your student's teacher or the front office regarding the number of students in your class. Please remember there could be allergies in your student's class, so plan accordingly.
