Creating strong home school connections for student success!
Lovett Strong!
We are officially ready to open on Monday, September 11, 2018 and we are all so excited! It has been a challenging few weeks for many of our families, but we are committed to making sure that when students arrive at school we provide them with the support they need to get back to a normal routine and have a successful school year. Our community has shown great strength over the last weeks, coming together to support those families in need. It makes me so proud to be apart of this community!! I want to give a huge shout out to our PTO, Dads Club, countless Lovett parents and staff that have come together to support others. They have been the leaders during this time, selflessly reaching out to help! We will get through this together, stronger than ever. We are Lovett Strong!
Quick notes for the first day and week
The first day of school is an exciting time and a busy time. Let's work together to make this a successful start. Please review the quick bullet points:
- Kindergarten parents please make sure when you drop off on Monday that you have given your child's teacher information on how they will get home.
- When students arrive on Monday, they will either report to breakfast in the cafeteria or to their designated areas. Grades k,3,4,5 will report to the MRP. Grades 1 and will be seated in their grade level hallway in a designated area.
- Please make sure you have read the drop off and pick up procedures. You can find this information in the two newsletters posted on the school webpage.
- PTO will have a general meeting starting at 8:00 in the school cafeteria; all parents are welcomed.
- A reminder that all HISD students eat free breakfast and lunch for the school year. We will however need every family to complete the Free/Reduced lunch form. Please complete the form even if your child is bringing lunch from home.
- Just an FYI that on Monday, September 11th, we will not have a milk available for breakfast or lunch. This is due to delivery delays happening all across the city.
- Class Size: expect to see class sizes greater than 22 in some grades. Additionally no HISD school will be capped, which means that we must register all neighborhood students that come during the first week of school. At the close of the first week HISD will review enrollment at schools at the close of the first week to determine next steps
Helping Children After A Disaster
Purchase your School Supplies Today!
Hurricane Harvey put us all on the spot by cutting Meet the Teacher short, and therefore, many families did not have the opportunity to purchase school supplies during that time as planned.
In preparation for the first day of school Monday, September 11th, we have updated the PTO website to allow you to purchase your child's school supplies before Monday! Visit www.lovettpto.org today to order your child's school supplies. Be sure to include your child's name when checking out. Once purchased we will have the supplies delivered directly to your child's teacher. Please Note: the link to purchase school supplies can be found on the right side of the home page of the PTO website.
If you are unable to purchase supplies online, you can purchase supply packs on Monday, September 11th in the library beginning at 7:30am. Please plan appropriately to purchase online or in person so your child is ready for the first day of school.
