Virtual PD: As many of you are aware, online gifted PD is available, and it's free to our districts taking coordination! This is a great time to work ahead (or catch up) on assigned modules (click here). In the coming weeks, look for an ever-expanding menu of options to utilize in place of the face-to-face district PD time as this journey unfolds.
Trauma-Informed Education
While many students may be embracing and thriving in our new, online reality, still others -- especially highly sensitive gifted students or students with high levels of anxiety -- may truly be struggling to adapt. In the article below, Edutopia authors explain how ACE (adverse childhood experiences -- including loss of the "school" setting) impact students' education and debunk some of the common myths regarding childhood trauma. For more, read the article here. For additional resources on gifted students' social-emotional development, click here (and go to pages 3-5 of the notes!).
(Special thanks to Michele Vrooman-Kennett from Elyria for sharing the amazing social-emotional resources!!)
