#TeamHarv Scouting Report
Week of April 18 - April 22

The Weeks in Review
In Science the last few weeks we finished working through our properties of matter. We learned a lot about different ways to sort matter, which is everything in the world. We studied concepts in density, and found out whether things sink or float. We learned about solubility and the ability for something to dissolve in a liquid. In addition to those two, we also could sort things by their mass and their state of matter, which substances could be solids, liquids, or gases. An object also contains properties of magnetism, whether or not it is attracted to a magnet or not. Finally, we discussed and learned about conductivity, both thermal conductors and insulators, and electrical.
We have done a lot of learning this year and now we will begin looking at reviewing and applying our knowledge on a deeper level.
In Social Studies, we learned about the critical period during the American Revolution which helped shape our new nation. We learned about how the odds were stacked against the American colonists and the Continental Army, but they did have a few advantages. We felt the weight of those advantages in our game of Tug-o-War. Ask your kids!
Beyond that, our learners took on the task of learning about the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and now the Bill of Rights. They are hard at work on defending an amendment assigned to them. Next week, we will vote out one of the Amendments and replace it.
